Scientific Officer (Sorghum Genomics/Molecular Breeding)

ICRISAT seeks applications from Indian nationals for the post of Scientific Officer (Sorghum Genomics/Molecular Breeding) to be based at Patancheru, Andhra Pradesh, India. This is a nationally recruited position.

Responsibilities:

• Plan and executive the field and glass-house experiments related to sorghum molecular breeding, especially related to drought and biotic stresses
• Execute the sorghum genomics activities and related field evaluations assigned from time to time
• Assist the scientists in integrating the genomics to the field experimentation
• Breeding data management and supervision of field activities, and carry out routine statistical analysis.
• Manage the database related to field and glass-house experiments

Competencies:

• Well-versed with field operations including experimental designs
• Proficiency in basic molecular marker techniques
• Well-versed in routine statistical analysis
• Able to write/draft reports on the work carried out
• Supervise Laboratory/Research Technicians

Requirements:

• M.Sc. (Plant Breeding)/(Agriculture Biotechnology)
• Applied/theoretical routine experimental field operations
• Good knowledge of application of molecular markers for crop improvement
• Experience in marker-assisted backcross breeding will be preferred
• 2-3 years of relevant experience in a well-known organization
• Proficiency in MS-Office

General:
This position is a nationally recruited staff position for three years and renewable based on the performance of the incumbent and the Institute's continuing need for the position. An attractive compensation is offered for the right candidate.
