Short term training course on "Molecular Approaches for Rice Improvement"
You may be aware that the College of Post Graduate Studies (CPGS) under the Aegis of Central Agricultural University is actively involved, not only in quality human resource development, but also in basic and strategic research for increasing crop productivity in the biologically diverse North Eastern Hill Region of India. In the short period of its existence the college has developed modern infrastructure and an experienced faculty base for undertaking region specific research and capacity building activities for students, researchers and other stakeholders. In this backdrop, CPGS is organizing an ICAR sponsored short term training course on "Molecular Approaches for Rice Improvement" from September 19th to 28th , 2013. The ten day training course will involve lectures, discussions and hands-on exercises on modern biotechnological tools of genomics, molecular breeding and genetic engineering, especially focusing on their application in Rice improvement. Use of these tools for developing rice varieties for biotic and abiotic stress resistance, improving nutritional quality, etc. will be discussed.
We invite nominations of researchers/ teachers not below the rank of Scientist! Assistant Professor/ Lecturer! Subject Matter Specialist having a minimum of 2 years research/ teaching! extension experience in in Genetics/ Plant Breeding! Biotechnology/ Plant physiology and related disciplines.
