RECRUITMENT FOR SCIENTIFIC POSITIONS

The Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Ministry of Science & Technology (Government of India) has established the Translational Health Science and Technology Institute (THSTI), an autonomous institution, as a part of the interdisciplinary Biotech Science Cluster at Faridabad in the National Capital Region. The permanent campus and buildings of THSTI are coming up at Faridabad and will be completed within one year. The Institute is currently functioning from interim facilities in Gurgaon. The institution is designed with a mission to conduct innovative translational research. THSTI is organized into several niche centres based on their research focus viz Vaccine and Infectious Disease Research Centre (VIDRC), Pediatric Biology Centre (PBC), Centre for Biodesign & Diagnostics (CBD), Clinical Development Services Agency (CDSA), Policy Centre for Biomedical Research (PCBR), Centre for Human Microbial Ecology (CHME) and Drug Discovery Research Centre(DDRC).

This recruitment notice is for DDRC which has been set up as a mission centre of the THSTI to enable the process of drug discovery research in India. It is a multi-disciplinary centre where research activities will span the broad areas of Biology, Chemistry, and Systems Biology.

Applications are invited from suitable candidates for the following positions:

2. RESEARCH SCIENTIST – E (Cell and Molecular Biology)

Rs. 37,400-67,000 + GP Rs. 8,700

ESSENTIAL: Ph.D. with seven years of relevant experience in cell and molecular biology in the context of disease. Either multi-disciplinary experience or familiarity with areas beyond the immediate discipline of expertise will be preferred. Proven expertise in high-content screening methodologies.

Utilize frontline approaches in the areas of cell and molecular biology to identify drug targets for specific diseases. Work in close collaboration with computational and mathematical biologists to exploit the potential of systems-based approaches.

3. RESEARCH ASSOCIATES – 2 Posts

Rs. 22,000 to 24,000 (consolidated) + HRA

ESSENTIAL: PhD with research experience either in the fields computational  and/or mathematical biology, systems biology, pharmacology, drug design and discovery Work under the team leaders in the respective divisions to further the goals of drug discovery research.

GENERAL TERMS & CONDITIONS:

1. Appointment will be made on contract initially for a period of 5 years with a probation period of one year that may be extended at the discretion of the competent Authority.
2. For the post Scientist-E, the pay & allowances are admissible as per the recommendation of the 6th Pay Commission of the Govt. of India. Other benefits include new pension scheme, medical reimbursement, LTC, bonus etc. as per the rules of the institute. The Research Associates will be eligible for consolidated emoluments plus HRA and medical benefits as per the rules of the institute.
3. Positions will be initially based in the THSTI’s interim laboratories at Gurgaon and will be shifted to its permanent campus in Faridabad within one year.

5. All educational, professional and technical qualification should be from a recognized Board/University.
6. The experience requirement specified shall be experience acquired after obtaining the minimum educational qualifications required for the post.
7. The age limit, qualification, experience and other requirements for the post is relaxable at the discretion of the competent authority, in case of candidates otherwise well qualified. In case candidates are not found suitable for the posts notified, they can be offered lower post on the recommendation of the Selection Committee.
8. Persons working in Govt. or Public Sector undertaking should apply through proper channel or produce ‘No Objection Certificate’ at the time of Interview.
9. Incomplete applications will stand summarily rejected.
10. In case a large number of applications are received for each post, screening will be done to limit the number of candidates to those possessing higher/relevant qualification.
11. Only shortlisted candidates will be called for interview.
12. Reservation rules will apply wherever applicable. Outstation SC/ST candidates called for the interview will be paid to & fro second class railway fare, as per Govt. of India rules on production of the proof of the same.
