SYMPOSIUM ON
ADVANCES IN NON-CODING GENOMICS
13-14 September 2013 @ IBAB, Bengaluru
About the symposium: The Human Genome Project and subsequent developments have shown that majority of the genome is transcribed, yet only a small fraction of the transcripts encode proteins. Non-coding RNAs such as lncRNAs, miRNAs, piRNA, SnoRNA, SnRNA, siRNA, and tiRNA appear to be critical for the regulation of gene expression in both prokaryotes and eukaryotes. Understanding the regulation of these non-coding RNAs is an emerging area of research. The scope of this symposium is to explore the research progress in this emerging area of biology in India. The emphasis will be on bioinformatics challenges in formulating hypothesis, advances in technologies, and potential areas of application.
Topics covered:
Bioinformatics (Gene regulation, Databases, Targetome, Technologies in action)
Functions (Non-coding RNAs in prokaryotes, Transcriptional gene silencing, Imprinting, Catalytic RNAs)
Applications (Plants, Animals, and Medical)
Programme highlights:
September 13: Roles of non-coding RNA
September 14: Bioinformatics challenges and advances in technologies
Poster sessions on both days
