BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES Cell culture methods are important advancements in biological research. Some of the important areas in which cell culture currently plays major role are cancer research, toxicity testing, stem cell biology, drug screening and development, gene therapy and developmental biology.
Primary objective of this workshop is to provide hands on training and introduce participants with the basic concepts and techniques in cell culture.
THE CONTENT The workshop is designed to provide thorough knowledge about cell culture which includes detailed theory sessions and lab exercises.

Ÿ Aseptic techniques
Ÿ Media and supplement requirements in cell culture
Ÿ Maintenance and sub culturing of cell line(s)
Ÿ Cell counting and viability determination
Ÿ Cryopreservation and cell banking
Ÿ Primary cultures and its applications
Ÿ Cell based assays (Drug uptake, MTT etc.)
Ÿ Applications of cell culture techniques
WHO SHOULD ATTEND The workshop is intended for personnel with relevant scientific background seeking training in cell culture including post graduate students, doctorate/research students as well as people working in industry in the field of medical sciences, pharmaceutical sciences and related subject areas. The workshop aims to provide a platform from where trainees can start up their work.
