Applications are invited for two Project linked persons purely on temporary basis in the Biological Anthropology Unit of the Indian Statistical Institute in connection with a research project titled "Genetic epidemiology of Malaria - Searching for the selective signature of pyruvate kinase encoding (PKLR) and foetal haemoglobin (HbF) genes and their suspectibility to malaria in northeast regional populations of the country".
Essential: Post graduate degree in any of the following disciplines: Physical/ Biological/Anthropology/Human Genetics/Human Biology/Biotechnology/ Molecular Genetics/Bioinformatics/Biostatistics/other Life Sciences.
Desirable: Experience of field work in tribal areas, collection of epidemiological data and genomic (wet lab) analysis using bioinformatics, genomic, statistical software packages for genetic epidemiological or genomic diversity or population genetics issues.
Nature of work Include field work (data and blood samples) in northeastern region, wet-lab analysis and statistical and bioinformatics analysis of genetic epidemiological and genomic data.
Tenure of appointment Initially the appointment will be till 31 March 2014 which may be extended later/terminated earlier, depending on availability of funds & performance of the candidate.

Road, Kolkata - 700 108 on or before 15 July 2013. The candidates should bring the original copies of the certificate, documents etc., for verification and two or three passport size photographs. Candidates appearing in the qualifying degree examination may also appear in the interview. However, selected candidates will get offer letter only on submission of the mark sheet.
