Osmania University has extended the last date for receiving applications for APSET (Andhra Pradesh State Eligibility Test) to August 17 with a late fee of Rs 200.
The last date for receiving the application is Aug 22. The examination will be held on September 22.
APSET member-secretary B Rajeswara Reddy said they had received 1.25 lakh applications for 27 subjects till Saturday. Last year, they received 1.17 lakh applications for 24 subjects. He said they were expecting to receive 1,000 more applications. The University Grants Commission (UGC) had consented to increase the number of subjects for this year to 27 by including five new subjects from last year’s 24, he said. Of the 1.17 lakh who took last year’s examination, about 8,000 cleared it.
With APSET or NET (National Eligibility Test) being mandatory for all postgraduate students for applying for assistant professor posts in universities and for degree college lecturer posts, Reddy said that the number of candidates appearing for APSET had gone up comparatively.
