Situation Vacant
Tocklai Experimental Station of Tea Research Association is located amidst the most picturesque surroundings of the south bank of the river Brahmaputra and tea gardens at Jorhat, Assam. It carries out frontline research on all aspects of tea. It has the most modern research infrastructure with dedicated and well qualified scientists from across the country. The Institute provides one of the best working environments for bringing excellence in tea research and extension while enhancing individual capacities and expertise. The Institute is seeking applications from eligible candidates for the following vacant positions at Jorhat and other Centres.
1. Head, Plant Physiology and Breeding Department (Scientist F): Ph.D. with first class Master’s Degree in Plant Physiology/Breeding with minimum 15 years experience in plant research preferably in tea or other plantation crops/horticulture/forestry, out of which at least five years shall be in senior supervisory position. Experience in research in reputed institutes and research publications in high impact factor journals, demonstrating exceptional research abilities are desirable.
Job responsibilities: To lead a team of scientists in Tea Physiology and Breeding Department and to motivate and guide the highly qualified research group.
(1) Responsible for developing research strategy and execution of research programmes.
(2) To provide leadership and direction to technical people.
(3) To obtain fund for research from funding agencies.
(4) To represent organization as assigned from time to time.
2. Head, Entomology Department (Scientist F): Ph.D. with first class Master’s Degree in Agricultural Entomology/Zoology with Entomology with minimum 15 years research experience in Entomology, preferably with experience in applied Entomology in tea or other plantation crops/ horticulture/forestry, out of which at least five years shall be in senior supervisory position. Experience in research in reputed institutes and research publications in high impact factor journals, demonstrating exceptional research abilities are desirable.
Job responsibilities: To lead a team of scientists in Entomology Department and to motivate and guide the highly qualified research group.
(1) Responsible for developing research strategy and execution of research programmes.

Pay Band: Rs 37,400–67,000, Grade Pay Rs 8900, PB-4 with facilities like PF, medical, semifurnished accommodation, other allowance, etc. as per TRA rules.
Age: Upper age limit is 50 years, relaxable by 5 years in case of highly experienced/TRA candidate.
3. Biotechnologist (Scientist E-I): Ph.D. with first class Master’s Degree in Biotechnology with minimum 12 years research experience in Biotechnology, preferably with experience in applied Biotechnology in tea or other plantation crops/horticulture/forestry. Experience in research in reputed institutes and research publications in high impact factor journals, demonstrating exceptional research abilities are desirable.
Pay Band: Rs 15,600–39,100, Grade Pay Rs 7600, PB-3 with facilities like PF, medical, semifurnished accommodation, other allowance, etc. as per TRA rules.
Age: Upper age limit is 40 years, relaxable by 5 years in case of highly experienced/TRA candidate.
4. Accounts Officer (AD-IV-03): First class Master’s Degree in Accountancy/Chartered Accountant/Cost Accountant or equivalent qualifications with minimum 12 years working experiences in similar position in research/educational institutes, industry, government or public sector undertaking having good knowledge of finance, accounting, taxation and audit rules and procedures.
Job responsibilities: Preparation of Balance Sheet and Annual Accounts of the Institute and its various funds, to deal with Statutory Auditors and Internal Auditors, to supervise the day to day income and expenditure, to deal with the Bankers of the Institute, to deal with all Statutory matters in connection with Accounts, to exercise financial discipline on the guidance of the Management, to file all tax returns and take care of TDS matters and all incidental matters.
Pay Band: Rs 15,600–39,100, Grade Pay Rs 7600, PB-3 with facilities like PF, medical, semifurnished accommodation, other allowance, etc. as per TRA rules.
Age: Upper age limit is 40 years, relaxable by 5 years in case of highly experienced/TRA candidate.
5. Assistant Advisory Officer (Scientist-C): First class Master’s Degree in Agriculture/Horticulture/ Forestry with minimum 3 years experience in research/extension services in reputed university/institution. Candidates with Ph.D. will be preferred.
Pay Band: Rs 15,600–39,100, Grade Pay Rs 6600, PB-3 with facilities like PF, medical, semifurnished accommodation, other allowance, etc. as per TRA rules.
Age: Upper age limit is 35 years, relaxable by 5 years in case of highly experienced/TRA candidate.
6. Staff Nurse (TO-III-03): Degree or Diploma in General Nursing and Midwifery or equivalent from a recognized university/institution and registered as Nurse and Midwife under Indian Nursing council Act 1947 or any State Nursing Council.
Pay Band: Rs 9300–34,800, Grade Pay Rs 4600, PB-2 with facilities like PF, medical, semi-furnished accommodation, other allowance, etc. as per TRA rules.
Age: Upper age limit is 36 years, relaxable by 5 years in case of highly experienced/TRA candidate.
7. Asstt. Analytical Chemist: (for Kolkata) Ph.D. with First class Master’s degree in Agricultural Chemistry/Soil Chemistry with minimum 5 years experience in analytical field. Published work in high impact factor journals, demonstrating exceptional research abilities are desirable.
Pay Band: Rs 15,600–39,100, Grade Pay Rs 5400 with other facilities like PF, medical, HRA, etc.
Age: Upper age limit is 36 years, relaxable by 5 years in case of highly experienced/TRA candidate.
