PhD Entrance Examination ‐ 2014 (PET‐2014)
The Ph.D. entrance test (written) in the fields of biological sciences and biotechnology of the University will be held on February 4, 2014 (Tuesday) at 10.30 am in the School of Biological Sciences and Biotechnology.
Interested students have to submit an application (addressed to the controller of examination) on or before January 30, 2014 (last date of application) to Miss Chitra Saini (chitra.saini@iiar.res.in).
Applicants are requested to be there at least 10 minutes before the scheduled start of the examination.
The Ph.D. entrance test of the University consists of two parts: written and interview. The students who aspire to get registered for the Ph.D. program have to first clear the written test. Those who successfully clear the written test will be intimated to appear for the interview. However, it is to be noted that students who have cleared national tests like CSIR/UGC and GATE are exempt from taking written tests (and are called for the interview), but an application to that effect needs to be submitted before the deadline for initiating followup procedures. This test is only for deciding eligibility and the Ph.D. registration of the candidate will be subject to the availability of the supervisor / guide and resources / infrastructure in the respective subject. Age limit as per government rules.
The test will have 25 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) on general knowledge and research aptitude and 50 MCQs on Biological sciences. MCQs on general knowledge and research aptitude will have to be answered in 40 minutes while that of Biological sciences are to be answered in 1 hour.
