Applications are invited from suitable candidates for one position of Junior Research Fellow for a DBT funded project on ‘Characterization of the Neurovirulence of Chikungunya virus infection in cell-based and animal models’ in the laboratory of Dr. E Sreekumar at Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Biotechnology, Thiruvananthapuram.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
One year or more of documented experience in virology and handling of BSL-2 pathogens; consistent, excellent academic record with first class Master's degree in Life Sciences/Biotechnology with CSIR/UGC NET qualification. Those candidates withouth CSIR/UGC NET also can apply; however, for such a candidate selected, the emolument will be as per the DBT norms. The project involves extensive experiments using laboratory animals, especially mice, and handling of infectious organisms. The candidate must be willing to work with laboratory animals and carry out experiments in bio-safety containment facilities.
AGE: Below 32 years as on 27th January, 2014
EMOLUMENTS:
16,000/- + 20% HRA per month for CSIR-JRF or equivalent and 12,000/- + 20% HRA per month for others.
DURATION
One year and nine months.
Only those fulfilling the above criteria need apply and will be called for interview. In the event of more than 10 candidates being short-listed by screening the applications, a written test will be conducted before the selection interview.
