THEME OF THE PROPOSED SEMINAR Research on distribution of phytochemicals, taxonomical diversity in Medicinal plants has been extensively done in India, but not much attention has not been carried out on pharmacological and phytochemical studies, despite the extensive traditional use of these species as well as its extreme biodiversity. Based on present and past knowledge and ethnobotanical bio processing approach of plants, particularly on healing properties which have been verbally transferred from one generation to other, medicinal plants are selected for phytochemical investigation. Generally all plants can be phytochemically evaluated using available methods, however target oriented approach is preferred. Plants can also be identified by chemotaxonomic data of bioactive compounds of medicinal interest as the study deals with similarity in the distribution of secondary metabolites focusing between taxonomically related plant species containing a certain class of natural products
The conference would discuss the following objectives: Ethanobotanical approaches in medicinal plants; Taxonomical identification of medicinal plants; Adulteration and authentication of medicinal plants; Applications of chemo, molecular and numerical taxonomy; Identification and isolation of phytochemicals; Bioactivity studies of isolated compounds (plant derived drugs) and Role of plant derived drugs on human health
The Seminar provides a congregation of Eminent Scientists, Researchers, Academicians and Students, Manufacturers of Herbal Products and Traditional Practitioners of various Medicinal Systems. Owing the need of present day Medicinal Systems Herbal Formulations play an important role to overcome adverse effects of present day Synthetic Chemical Drugs. In view of the emerging need of Plant Based Formulations Sustainable Conservation of Medicinal Plants is essential.
