NOTIFICTION

Applications are invited from the fresh bright B. Tech students from the current or one year prior to the current academic year belonging to SC, ST, OBC and PWD categories in appropriate branches to appoint as "TRAINEE TEACHERS (TT)" on contractual basis. Initially, all selected candidates would assist in teaching. They will also undergo part-time higher studies in Indian Institute of Technology (IITs) to acquire higher academic qualifications, which is a pre-requisite for faculty position at NIT Durgapur.

1. Eligibility: The Scheme is open to the best engineering graduates from Biotechnology/Mechanical Engineering/Electrical Engineering/ Civil Engineering/ Chemical Engineering /Computer Science and Engineering/ Electronics and Communication Engineering /Information Technology/ Metallurgical and Materials Engineering departments who are in top 15% in the centrally Funded Technical Institutes (like IIT, NIT, IIIT, IISER, NISER).

All other candidates who are in top 15% rank from AICTE/ UGC approved Institutions /Universities (Non- CFTIs) and having a valid GATE score are also eligible to apply. It may be noted that top 15% rank shall be considered from each category of reservation, SC/ST/OBC/PWD respectively.

2. Duration and Salary:

(i) The Trainee Teachers will mainly help the Institute for laboratory and tutorial classes, research and progressively play bigger role in academics and research.
(ii) The status of Trainee Teachers will be like Contractual Employees with annually increasing consolidated salary on an equivalent scale (compensation higher than a regular PhD fellow but lower than an Assistant Professor) with regular leave, medical facilities, accommodation! HRA as applicable, transport allowance etc. Also all the fees and some professional expenses towards the M. Tech and PhD programme will be reimbursed through this scheme. A part of the salary (20% of consolidated salary) will be retained by the Institute, placed in Recurring Deposit (RD) and this would be returnable to the trainee in a phased manner, only after successful completion of PhD.
(iii) It is necessary for the Trainee Teachers to complete M. Tech and PhD within 5-8 years.

If a candidate fails to complete his PhD within eight years, hisl her candidature to be in this scheme will be discontinued. The trainee teacher also can opt out of the scheme by giving sufficient notice to the administration and it should be effective only after completing academic requirements towards the end of current semester. In such a case the amount kept in RD will be forfeited.

3. Regularization of Candidate: After successful completion of the PhD, the trainee teacher will be absorbed as an Assistant Professor in appropriate pay scale of 4-tier Cadre Structure and service rendered as trainee will be counted for various benefits as admissible to employees of National Institute of Technology, Durgapur.

4. Instructions to the Candidates:

(i) The application form may be downloaded from www.nitdgp.ac.in

(ii) The application form complete in all respect is to be submitted in hard copy to
"Registrar, National Institute of Technology Durgapur 713209, West Bengal, India".

The last date of submission of applications is 21 st March, 2014.

(iii) The filled in application should be accompanied by application fee of Rs. 600/- in theform of Crossed Demand Draft drawn in favour of "NIT Durgapur" payable at SBI, R.E. College Branch, Durgapur, Code No.: 2108. However, SC/ST/PWD candidates are exempted from paying any application fee.
(iv) The envelope should be superscibed "Trainee Teachers" and the name of the Department should be mentioned on the left-top corner of the envelope containing the application.
(v) Secondary, Higher Secondary and B. Tech semester-wise mark sheets, other
achievements, etc., documentary proof in the form of self-attested photo-copies is to be attached with the application. The original rank certificate of the candidate must be obtained from head of the Institute and is to be attached with the application.
(vi) All original certificates must be produced at the time of interview and at the time of joining, if selected.
(vii) Additional sheets may be attached, in the same format, wherever the space allocated is felt to be insufficient.
(viii) Consistently good academic background is essential for all applicants which includes secondary, higher secondary (+2) and B. Tech degree in appropriate discipline.
(ix) Incomplete applications 1 applications without necessary enclosures will be summarily rejected.
(x) Copy of the SC / ST / OBC certificate issued by the competent authority, not below the rank of a Tahsildar must be attached. In case of OBC candidates, the certificate indicating the status regarding non-creamy layer should not be older than six months from the last date of application.

(xi) Reservation to minorities and PWD will be given as per the Government of India norms.

For this purpose certificate issued by the competent authority as per Government of India norms must be submitted along with the applications.

(xii) The eligibility for the posts notified shall be governed by the guidelines issued by MHRD from time to time and shall be applicable for this advertisement as well.

(xiii) The Qualification will be considered as on the last date for receipt of applications.
(xiv) Any misleading or wrong information supplied may lead to summarily rejection of application / appointment, if found subsequently.
(xv) An application in prescribed form with complete information and attachments will only be entertained for further processing.
(xvi) Mere fulfillment of minimum qualification for the post does not entitle the candidate to be called for an interview. A short listing criterion may be set higher than the minimum advertised. Criteria for short-listing may vary from department to department (However, it must be within top 15% rank).
(xvii) No interim queries regarding interview / selection process will be entertained. All information shall be posted on the Institute website www.nitdgp.ac. in
(xviii) Canvassing in any form will lead to rejection of application form.
(xix) Decision of the Selection Committee and the Board of Governors of NIT Durgapur with respect to the selection process is final.
(xx) Legal disputes, if any with National Institute of Technology, Durgapur are restricted to the jurisdiction of Durgapur Court only.

5. Campus NIT Durgapur is located in the heartland of industrial activities and the mineral-rich region of West Bengal, also known as 'The Ruhr of India'. The city of Durgapur is well connected by rail with Kolkata, 158 km away, and is an important railway station on the main New Delhi-Kolkata route. It is a three hours' drive from Kolkata airport along Durgapur Expressway and NH 2.

The Institute campus, spreading over 187 acres, is known for its serene environment with trees and water body. It is self-reliant with facilities like residential quarters, roads, water supply, power distribution network, market complex, school, banks, ATM and post office.
