Admission to the Ph.D. program at the Institute of Nano Science and Technology (INST) in August 2014

INST invites applications from prospective candidates for admission in to its Ph.D. Program in several areas of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology for the session beginning in August 2014. The profile of the Faculty members at INST is accessible at http://www.inst.ac.in/scientists_detail.php. Ph.D. students will be provided fellowship as per CSIR-UGC norms.

Eligibility criteria: Interested candidates with a good academic track record and a strong intent to pursue a Ph.D. in Nanoscience/Nanotechnology should hold a Master’s Degree in Science and Engineering and should have qualified GATE/CSIR-UGC-NET/JEST/JGEEBILS (TIFR/NCBS)/ICMRJRF/ DBT-JRF/DST-INSPIRE.

Application procedure: Prospective candidates should directly send their completed and signed application form (http://www.inst.ac.in/admission_form.pdf) by e-mail to apply@inst.ac.in. This will be treated as an advanced copy of the application. However, the hard copy of the application and a demand draft (see below) will have to be sent to INST. The envelope containing the application documents should be superscribed as ‘An application for the Ph.D. Program’ and sent to Institute of Nano Science and Technology, Phase-10, Sector-64, Mohali 160 062, Punjab.

Interview dates: Short-listed candidates will be called for an interview at INST on 9th and 10th June 2014.

Award of the Degree: Ph.D. students at INST will register at IISER, Mohali for their Ph.D. degree (http://www.iisermohali.ac.in/).

Application fees: The aforesaid application documents should be accompanied by a demand draft (DD) of Rs 450 for General/OBC or Rs 150 for SC/ST/PH drawn in favour of Institute of Nano Science and Technology, Mohali (payable either at Mohali or at Chandigarh). Please mention your name on the reverse of the DD.

Deadline: Applications from interested students should reach INST through Registered/Speed Post by 30 April 2014. Applications received after this date shall not be entertained in any case.
