About the training program

Zebrafish has emerged as a valuable system for the study of vertebrate development and for modeling human disease processes. Zebrafish embryos are transparent, undergo rapid development and develop outside the body, making them easy to study and analyze. The development and function of zebrafish organs are very similar to those of humans and more than 70% of human disease genes have functional homologs in zebrafish. The ease of generating mutant or transgenic fish has resulted in the generation of many zebrafish disease models. The aim of the training program is to introduce the zebrafish system to the undergraduate/postgraduate students and to offer hands on training in zebrafish biology and genetics.

The training program includes:

 In vitro fertilization
 Genotyping analysis for mutant identification
 Ploidy induction techniques
 Disease models
