6-15 October 2014
Organized by
Department of Animal Biotechnology
College of Veterinary Science & A. H.
Anand Agricultural University
Anand-388001
About the Training: Anand Agricultural University is the only university (state agricultural/traditional) in India to have high throughput genome sequencers installed at Ome Research Facility, Department of Animal Biotechnology, College of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry. Since it provides high throughput data, useful in numerous applications as well as reduces project time and cost.
College of Veterinary Sciences & Animal Husbandry has completed 50 glorious years of academic excellence in field of veterinary and animal science and is celebrating the year 2014 as Golden Jubilee Celebration Year. Department of Animal Biotechnology is commited to being a globally compititive research facility through excellence in research and training of future research scientists. As a part of Golden Jubilee Celebration, Department of Animal Biotechnology is organizing a national training program "Metagenomics - Role of Next Generation Sequencing and Bioinformatics" under
the Niche Area of Excellence project "Metagenomic analysis of Ruminal Microbes" in Animal Biotechnology.
This training programme aims at imparting hands on experience to young and mid career scientists and researchers on the use of "Next Generation Sequencing" for metagenomic approach to analyzing the diversity of microbial communities in pecu liar ecosystems and for gene prospecting.
Eligibility: The training program is being organized with financial assistance from the Niche Area of Excellence project of the ICAR. The training course is designed for faculty and scientists (assistant professor and above) and will be for a duration of ten days from October 6, 2014 to October 15, 2014. Candidate should be sponsored by their institute.
Eligible scientists, who wish to participate in the training program, may submit their brief curriculum vitae including name, date of birth, sex, educational qualifications, experience, position held, postal, e-mail address and phone number and a brief write-up on motivation to attend the training program. Application sent through proper channel
duly approved by the institution will be considered (attach the letter of approval with the application).
Application received on or before 31st August, 2014 will be considered for participation.
