Workshop on Electron Microscopy for Life Sciences

July 07 to 08, 2014

This workshop is being organized as  Golden Jubilee Event of National Institute of Pathology (ICMR) and a premeeting educational event in conjunction with the 35th Annual meeting of the Electron Microscopy Society of India (EMSI), which is being held at the University of Delhi (July 9-11, 2014).

Two day workshop will consist of lectures by senior scientists and electron microscopists
in forenoon followed by practical demonstration of techniques and observation of samples under electron microscopes. Emphasis shall be on the basic instrumentation, operating modes, ancillary equipment and applications of today's state -of-the-art instruments used for characterization of Life Sience Samples including Biomedical Applications.

This workshop is intended to serve as an introduction for students and novices as well as a refresher for those who are returning to the field. Importantly, it is being held in coordination with the EMSI-2014 meeting which brings together the research community of India and a number of internationally recognized scientists to discuss their latest work using microscopy applied to both the physical and life sciences.

This workshop will serve as an outreach mechanism to engage the rapidly growing nanoscience research initiatives in India.

Its purpose will be to foster student education in advanced technology.
