Visiting Scientist: Training Coordinator
AVRDC seeks applications from Indian nationals for a Visiting Scientist to be based at its Regional headquarters located at ICRISAT, in Patancheru, Greater Hyderabad, Hyderabad (Telangana State).
AVRDC-The World Vegetable Center is a nonprofit, autonomous international agricultural research center with headquarters in Taiwan and regional offices around the globe. The Center conducts research and development programs that contribute to improved incomes and diets in the developing world. The Center is seeking a Training Coordinator to work with its regional project teams based in India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Nepal. S/he will design and facilitate agriculture/horticulture-related training programs for participants from NGOs, government and the private sector, conduct training monitoring and evaluations and liaise with professional horticultural education providers.
The Job Responsibilities:
- Design training curricula for partners and farmers to meet project objectives;
- Write training and extension materials and organize their production and distribution;
- Deliver participatory training as needed and facilitate training provided by AVRDC scientists;
- Work with the private seed sector to design and facilitate customized training courses;
- Liaise with national educational providers to develop innovative vegetable training programs.
Competencies:
- Sound understanding of the principals of adult educations
- Demonstrated ability to design training curricula and write training materials
- Excellent interpersonal skills and able to work in a multi-cultural team
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills,
- Fluent in written and spoken English
- Demonstrated understanding of agriculture, and vegetables in particular.
Requirements:
- Masters degree in education, agriculture, horticulture, extension or social sciences
- At least five years of extensive experience in the design, development and delivery of training for agricultural development or community development
General: This assignment is for three years, based in Hyderabad. An attractive all-inclusive lump sum assignment fee is paid, based on qualifications and experience.
