Characterization of the Neurovirulence of Chikungunya virus | RGCB JRF Vacancy

Applications are invited from suitable candidates for one position of Junior Research Fellow in a DBT funded research project entitled "Characterization of the Neurovirulence of Chikungunya virus infection in cell-based and animal models" in the laboratory of Dr. E Sreekumar in the Molecular Virology Laboratory at Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Biotechnology, Thiruvananthapuram.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS : Consistent, excellent academic record (above 70% marks in all major examinations from 12^th standard onwards); Masters Degree in Life Sciences/ Biotechnology/ Veterinary/ Medical Sciences.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS: The project involves extensive experiments using laboratory animals especially mice, and handling of infectious organisms. The candidate must be willing to work with laboratory animals and carry out experiments in biosafety containment facilities. Candidates with genuine interest in virology research and a committed intention to pursue doctoral studies in the field will be preferred.

AGE : Below 28 years as on 28^th August, 2014

EMOLUMENTS :

16,000/- + 20% HRA for CSIR/UGC/ICMR/DBT or equivalent qualified candidates;
12,000/- + 20% HRA for others.

Duration : One year (upto 5^th September, 2015).

Only those fulfilling the above criteria need apply and will be called for interview. In the event of more than 10 candidates being short-listed by screening the applications, a written test will be conducted before the selection interview.

As with all project positions at RGCB, the position will be co terminus with end of the project.
