Indian Institute of Technology Bhubaneswar invites application for admission to Ph.D. Programme from candidates in the following categories:
1. Regular full-time scholars with Institute Assistance.
2. Sponsored Scholars: Candidates who possess the minimum prescribed qualifications and are in service in any of the following establishments shall be eligible for admission to the Ph.D. program as Sponsored Scholars:
i) Defence or other ministries of the Government of India or any other government organizations;
ii) Established industrial research and development organizations
iii) Autonomous bodies and public undertakings
iv) Universities/Colleges

PhD (Engineering)
60% marks or 6.5 CGPA (in 10-point scale) in M. Tech/M.E or equivalent degree in appropriate discipline (with a valid GATE score in the year of admission into the M.Tech. Programme) with consistently good academic record OR B.Tech/B.E or equivalent degree in appropriate discipline with 70% marks or 7.5 CGPA (in 10-point scale) with a valid GATE Score, or UGC/CSIR-NET (with JRF) and consistently good academic record in the relevant field.
OR 60% marks or 6.5 CGPA (in 10-point scale) Master’s or equivalent degree in appropriate discipline with consistently good academic record and valid GATE Score or UGC/CSIR-NET (with JRF)
PhD (Basic Science)
60% marks or 6.5 CGPA (in 10-point scale) in the Master’s or equivalent degree in appropriate discipline with consistently good academic record and valid GATE Score or UGC-CSIR-NET (with JRF)/ Inspire Fellowship in the relevant field.
PhD (Geo-Science)
60% marks or 6.5 CGPA (in 10-point scale) in M.Sc. / M. Tech in Geology/Geophysics/Earth Science or relevant subject with valid GATE score /CSIR-JRF/Inspire Fellowship with consistently good academic record in the relevant field.
PhD (Climate Sciences)
60% marks or 6.5 CGPA (in 10-point scale) in M.Sc. / M. Tech in Physics/Chemistry/Mathematics/Oceanography/Meteorology/Marine Science/Earth Science/Mechanical/Civil/Geoinformatics/Remote Sensing/Computer Science or relevant subject with valid GATE/UGC-CSIR-JRF/Inspire Fellowship with consistently good academic record in the relevant field. Mathematics at UG level is compulsory for Climate Science.
PhD (HSS)
55% marks or 6.0 CGPA (in 10-point scale) in Master’s degree in appropriate discipline. The candidate must have a valid UGC-NET (with JRF).

The hardcopy of application form with necessary enclosures should be signed and submitted to above mentioned address along with a Demand Draft of
Rs. 500/- for General/OBC, Rs. 250/- for SC/ST drawn in favour of "IIT Bhubaneswar" on any nationalized bank payable at Bhubaneswar by post or in person in A4 size envelop only. Female candidates are exempted from paying application fee.
