Post-Doctoral Fellow

ICRISAT is seeking applications from dynamic and potential candidates for Genotype by Cropping Systems Interactions: Sorghum plant types and their adoption in the Sudan Savannah of West-Africa

The Job:

  • Evaluate farmers’ preferences for specific types of varieties, or hybrids of sorghum, in the context of specific cropping systems, including soil fertility improvement strategies, gender and farm typologies. 
  • Analyse changes in food security in families who are adopting new production techniques, monitoring how increased production is being used in different types of families.
  • Examine how women farmers use and benefit from increased availability of seed of diverse sorghum varieties and other crops in the target areas?

The Person:

  • PhD in crop science, agronomy or plant breeding
  • Experience with participatory research methods and tools, specifically regarding variety evaluations
  • Experience with complex tropical production systems
  • French language skills
  • Experience with sorghum field experimentation is an advantage
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English

The Reward: The Fellowship is for a period of 12 months and extendable based on funding availability.  An attractive compensation in US Dollars will be offered to the right candidate. The Post-Doc Fellow will be based at ICRISAT , Mali.
