IOB is Recruiting JRFs (15) at helpBIOTECH

About Institute of Bioinformatics (http://ibioinformatics.org/)

Institute of Bioinformatics (IOB) is a premier research center for Genomics, Proteomics, Metabolomics, and Computational biology. IOB has established a state-of-the-art proteomics, genomics, and metabolomics platforms that are being utilized to explore and validate candidate biomarkers in a wide array of human diseases ranging from neurological disorders and infections to cancers. Scientists at IOB are training young researchers across India in these OMICS technologies. IOB Researchers in collaboration with Johns Hopkins University and NIMHANS, have established a draft map of human proteome for the first time in the world. This landmark study was featured on the cover of the prestigious journal Nature on May 29, 2014.

IOB is looking for highly motivated research students, who would like to investigate on altered proteomic and metabolomic profiles of human beings during diverse disease conditions. A number of opportunities are available to carry out deeper proteomic and metabolomic profiles of specialized organs including brain and eye. Only candidates who qualified Junior Research Fellowship and would like to pursue their Ph.D. degree in the cutting –edge research areas using advanced experimental platforms are encouraged to apply.

Ph.D. studentship in ‘Mass Spectrometry based proteomics and metabolomics’ (5 positions)

Qualifications:

1) M.Sc. in any field of Life Sciences;
2) Candidates must have secured JRF funding from CSIR-UGC, DBT, ICMR and DST-INSPIRE

3) Previous experience in a molecular biology or proteomics laboratory is advantageous

Selected JRFs will be extensively trained in sample prep and data analysis of proteomic and metabolomic experiments, maintenance of HPLC and mass spectrometry for carrying out proteomic and metabolomic analysis of cancer and infectious diseases. They will be trained in cutting edge technologies in quantitative proteomics and phosphoproteomics at IOB.
