Admission into Ph.D. Programs for July 2015 session
The Ph.D. Programs, in Full-time and Part-time modes, are offered in the following Departments:
1. Civil Engineering 2. Electrical Engineering 3. Mechanical Engineering 4. Electronics and Communications Engineering 5. Metallurgical and Materials Engineering 6. Chemical Engineering 7. Computer Science and Engineering 8. Biotechnology 9. Physics 10. Chemistry 11. Mathematics 12. Humanities and Social Sciences 13. School of Management
a) Ph.D. PROGRAM ON FULL-TIME BASIS IN ENGINEERING DEPARTMENTS
i. Candidates who have completed M.Tech./M.S. programs through GATE score (or) who already possesses a valid GATE score are eligible for admission with institute fellowship as per MHRD norms.
ii. Category-wise (OBC, SC, ST, PWD) reservations on overall available seats will be followed as per Government of India norms.
iii. In the case of SC/ST candidates, the eligibility criteria for all Departments is Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of at least 6.0 on a 10 point scale grading system, or not less than 55% marks in aggregate. Department-specific eligibility criteria are given below.
Biotechnology Department Eligibility Criteria
First Class with not less than 60% aggregate (or) not less than 6.5 CGPA on a 10 point scale in both
(i) B.Tech. or B.E. or Equivalent degree in Biotechnology/Industrial Biotechnology/ Chemical Engineering/ Biochemical Engineering and
(ii) M.Tech/MS in Biotechnology/ Industrial Biotechnology/ Bioinformatics. Or First Class with not less than 60% (or) not less than 6.5 CGPA on a 10 point scale in Integrated M.Tech. (Biotechnology/ Industrial Biotechnology / Bioinformatics).
Or
First Class with not less than 60% (or) not less than 6.5 CGPA on a 10 point scale M. Sc. (Biotechnology) with M.Tech (Biotechnology).

THE NAMES OF THE SHORTLISTED CANDIDATES CALLED FOR THE DATES OF INTERVIEW AND / OR WRITTEN TEST WILL BE AVAILABLE ON INSTITUTE WEB SITE: www.nitw.ac.in AFTER 15 May 2015
I. The candidates selected for admission into Ph.D under Full-time program are eligible to receive institute fellowship as per MHRD rules. (vide reference no. http://mhrd.gov.in/sites/upload_files/mhrd/files/RevPhd02032015.pdf, dt. 02.3.2015). The above institute fellowships are subject to change from time to time, under instructions of the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India.
II. The candidates will be selected through an institute entrance test and/or an interview.
III. The candidates selected for admission for Ph.D. under Full-time basis are required to stay on the campus only.
