Applications are invited for admission to the PhD Program in the Department of Marine Science , University of Calcutta, 35, B.C. Road, Kolkata- 700019, for the year 2015. Candidates should apply in the prescribed proforma by paying Rs.100/-* in the University Cash Counter (as application fee for Ph.D. admission) through a challan obtainable from the Cash Counter at C.U. duly forwarded by the Head of the Department or his representative.
* SC/ST candidates are exempted from paying fees.

Desirable Qualifications: M.Sc in Marine Science or Equivalent Passed/ Appeared.
In case a candidate wishes to apply for admission in the Ph.D. Programme in Marine science having preceding qualifying degree for a subject in which there is no University Post-Graduate Department then he/she will have to seek an endorsement by the Ph.D. committee of Marine Science. This endorsement should be submitted along with his/her application for admission to the Ph.D. programme. [Ref. Clause # 3.3 and Clause # 9.4 of University of Calcutta (Regulation for the Degree of Doctor of Philosophy, Ph.D.), Regulations 2009].
Admission Test will be taken based upon M.Sc Syllabus of Marine Science.
Those candidates who have already passed NET / SLET /M.Phil/ Teacher Fellowship or equivalent examinations are exempted from the Admission Test. However, they have to qualify in the interview.
