IISER-K Cell Biology JRF/Technical Assistant Openings

(B) TECHNICAL ASSISTANT (Dept. of Biological Sciences, IISER Kolkata)

A position for a Junior Research Fellow (JRF) and a position for a Technical assistant is available in the research group of Dr. Arnab Gupta, Asst. Professor, Dept. of Biological Science, IISER Kolkata. The research work involves the use of basic molecular and cell biology tools to study membrane trafficking in mammalian cells.

1. Title of project: Novel regulatory mechanisms of human copper transporters ATP7B and CTR1

2. Funding agency: Wellcome Trust DBT India Alliance Intermediate Fellowship

3. Principle investigator: Dr. Arnab Gupta, Asst. Professor, Dept. of Biological Sciences

4. Remuneration: A maximum amount of Rs. 25,000 per month +30%HRA for JRF position and Rs. 20,000 consolidated for Technical Assistant

5. Tenure: 12 months, with possibility of renewal upon satisfactory performance

6. Basic Eligibility Criteria: M.Sc with NET-LS or GATE for JRF position and MSc for Technical Assistant.

7. Additional experience (desirable): Exposure to research at the Masters’ level or higher / work experience in an academic institution.

8. Age limit: Not more than 30 years as of the day of the interview for both the positions.

Eligible candidates should carry two copies of their detailed Curriculum Vitae (CV), self-attested copies of marksheets and certificates from Std. XII onwards, and a brief covering letter explaining their motivation.

10. Interview: Walk in interview on 16th June 2017 (1PM) in the Conference room (2nd floor) of the Department of Biological Sciences, Research Complex.

11. Conditions: No TA / DA will be provided to the candidate for the interview. The decision of the selection committee will be final. The selected candidate may be terminated with a 30-day notice before completion of tenure, if performance till date is not deemed satisfactory.
