Applications are invited for a position of JRF on a Wellcome Trust DBT India Alliance project funded project at IISER Kolkata
Title: Exploring functional roles of membrane fluctuations during myoblast differentiation
The candidate will work at IISER Kolkata under the guidance of Dr. Bidisha Sinha.
Goal : In this project we will measure the nanometric membrane fluctuations by Interference Reflection Microscopy and correlate the spatial maps with its functional state. Of special interest would be the organization of machinery involved in myogenesis and the role of fluctuations in defining the spatial distribution.
Duration: Initial appointment of the candidate will be for 6 months, extendable on a biannual basis depending on the performance of the candidate, up to two years or upon the termination of the project, whichever occurs earlier.
Possibility of converting to a PhD position exists, for candidates clearing PhD entry requirements at IISER Kolkata while working on the project.

Fellowship: JRF emoluments will be as per DST rules.
Essential Qualifications: MS/M.Sc. in Physics /Life Sciences/ Physical Chemistry, B.Tech. (preferably Biotech) with Maths and Physics in Bachelors. Must have qualified NET.
Desirable: A keen interest in biology and microscopy; experience in wet lab/ cell culture; basic knowledge of programming.
