ROLLING ADVERTISEMENT FOR FACULTY POSITIONS
(In accordance with 7th CPC Pay Structure)
Indian institute for science education and research (IISER) Berhampur is an autonomous premier
science institution of national importance funded by Ministry of Human Resource and Development
(MHRD), Govt. of India (GoI). IISERs are chain of institutes established for promoting high quality
science, education and research. IISER Berhampur was set up as the 7th institute by GoI in 2016 under
NITSER act. IISER Berhampur has 5-year dual degree BS-MS course and Ph.D. programme in
Biological Sciences, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Physics. IISER Berhampur is currently
functioning from transit campus equipped with state of the art facilities. About 200 acres of land has
been allotted by the Odisha Government for the permanent campus of IISER Berhampur.
Berhampur (Brahmapur) is well connected via rail. Nearest airport is Bhubaneshwar (2.5 hrs.).
Bhubaneshwar is well connected to all major national and international cities.
IISER Berhampur invites applications from exceptionally bright, motivated, candidates with an
established track record of high quality research and a commitment to teaching for faculty positions in
Biological Sciences, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Physics. This is the rolling advertisement, the
applications received will be processed periodically by a duly constituted screening committee. The

The applicant can be an either Indian national (including Person of Indian Origin (PIOs) and Overseas
Citizen of India (OCI)) OR Foreign national for the faculty position at the level of Assistant Professor
and above in all the Departments. Foreign nationals are applicants who do not have an Indian passport
OR PIO/OCI card. Foreign nationals will be offered contractual appointments for up to five years
subject to necessary permissions from the competent authority.
Eligibility, Experience, Age and Salary information for faculty positions:
1) Assistant Professor Grade II:
Eligibility criteria
• Ph.D. with a first class or equivalent at the preceding degree and a very good academic
record throughout.
Salary Structure
• Level 10 with initial pay of Rs. 70,900/-.
• After one year of post Ph.D. experience, the candidates shall be placed in Level 11 with
an initial pay of Rs. 73,100/-, subject to evaluation of performance and antecedents.
2) Assistant Professor Grade I:
Eligibility criteria
• Ph.D. with a first class or equivalent at the preceding degree and a very good academic
record throughout.
• Minimum 3 years of industrial/ research/ teaching/ experience, excluding however, the
experience gained while pursuing Ph.D.
Salary Structure
• Level 12 with initial pay of Rs. 1,01,500/-.
• Candidates possessing the degree of Ph.D. in the relevant discipline and with regular
service of 3 years at Level 12 shall be considered for moving to Level 13 A1 with an
initial pay of Rs. 1,31,400/-, subject to evaluation of performance and antecedents.
3) Associate Professor:
Eligibility criteria
• Ph.D. with a first class at the preceding degree and a very good academic record
throughout.
• Minimum 6 years of teaching/research experience of which at least 3 years should be
at the level of Assistant Professor/ Senior Scientific Officer.
Salary Structure
• Level 13 A2 with an initial pay of Rs. 1,39,600/-.
4) Professor:
Eligibility criteria
• Ph.D. with a first class at the preceding degree and a very good academic record
throughout.
• Minimum 10 years of teaching/research experience of which at least 4 years should be
at the level of Associate Professor.
Salary Structure
• Level 14A with an initial pay of Rs. 1,59,100/-.
