Applications are invited for Graduate Student, Postdoctoral Scientist, and Foreign
Professor positions to under take innovative research in the Department of Biotechnology, Yeungnam University, Republic of Korea (http://www.yu.ac.kr/en/main/index.php).
Experience in some or all of the following disciplines are desirable: molecular
biology, biochemistry,
analytic chemistry or microbiology. Good oral and written communication skills and ability to work independently and as part of a team are required.
The successful candidates will participate in
the following projects.
Project 1: Biocontrol of Pine Wood Nematode using
Metabolites Isolates from Endophytes of Pine Trees
Screening of metabolites isolated
from endophyes for nematicidal activity
Isolation and identification of the nematicidal
metabolites (NMR)
Metabolic profiling (LC-MS-MS).
Molecular mechanism of
thenematicidal metabolites in pine tree
Project 2: Signal Perception and Transduction
of Sound Vibration in Arabidopsis
Study on sound wave-mediated
epigenetic changes which will include CHIP assay, bisulfite sequencing and
small RNA sequencing.
Role of mechano-channel in sound
wave perception which will include patch clamp techniques, FRET mediated
cytosolic calcium measurement and mutant studies.
Metabolic profiling (LC-MS-MS).
Other molecular and cellular biology
works.
Project 3: Viral Vector Construction for Rapid
Plant Transformation
Construction and characterization of viral vectors for plant
transformation without tissue culture
Further information about our research and recent publications can be found at http://pmmelab.wix.com/hanhongbae#!home/mainPage. Salary will be ~USD 2000, 2300 (plus publication incentive), and stipend for
postdoctoral researcher, foreign professor, and graduate student per month,
respectively. For foreign professor position, application should have good
publication record. For graduate student, language examination scores are
