Faculty position in quantitative biology

The institute is seeking to appoint a faculty member in the area of systems biology/mathematical biology. Preferably the candidate should have a computing background (mathematics/statistics/physics/engineering etc.) and work experience in the area of modern biology, with a good track record. Examples of areas of work include systems biology, mathematical biology and network biology.

Job description: The candidate is expected to work independently and build a strong research team, and develop extra-murally funded projects. The faculty member is also expected to teach in the educational programmes of the institute, including the masters’ degree programme and big data biology programme. Further, the faculty will work with other colleagues and share institutional responsibilities.

Eligibility: The candidate should have a PhD with post-doctoral/industrial experience, and a good publication record in peer-reviewed journals. The candidate must have good mathematical and computing background, including knowledge of programming languages. The candidates must also be a strong teacher.

Remuneration: This will be commensurate with expertise and experience.

About IBAB: The Institute of Bioinformatics and Applied Biotechnology (IBAB) is based in Electronics City, Bengaluru. It runs an inter-disciplinary masters’, a Postgraduate Diploma in Big Data Biology (run in collaboration with IIIT-B) and a PhD programme.
