The Department of Biotechnology invites applications for the post of Scientist ‘C’, Group ‘A’ Gazetted Post (Non-Ministerial and Scientific) to be filled on direct recruitment basis. The details are as under: 

1. NO. OF POSTS : 27(UR-15; OBC-7; SC-04; ST-01) (Note: The number of posts to be filled may vary. The Department reserves the right to fill vacancies arising subsequent to this advertisement under this recruitment process till the validity date of the panel of recommended candidates in the main list or waiting list. The Department also reserves the right to cancel the recruitment without assigning any reason) 

2. PAY LEVEL – 11 (Rs.67700-208700/-)(erstwhile Pay Band -3, Grade Pay-6600/-) 

3. HOW TO APPLY: Candidates are required to apply online by using the following link http://www.dbtindia.nic.in/vacancies/. Detailed instructions for filling up online applications are available on the said link. Brief Instructions for filling up the "Online Application Form" are given in Appendix-I. The applicants in Government/Semi Government Organisation/Public Sector Undertakings/Autonomous Organisations must also upload NOC of their employers. The applications received without the recommendations/NOC of their Employers shall be treated as invalid/ineligible.

ELIGIBILITY CONDITIONS: 

a. NATIONALITY: The applicant must be a citizen of India. The date for determining the age limit shall be 01.03.2019. 

b. AGE LIMITS: A candidate should not have exceeded the age of 40 years as on 01.03.2019 i.e. he/she must have not been born not earlier than 01.03.1979. i. The upper age limit prescribed above will be relaxable by a maximum of 03 (three) years in case of candidates belonging to other backward classes who are eligible to avail of reservation applicable to such candidates; ii. The upper age limit prescribed above will be relaxable by a maximum of 05 (five) years in case of candidates belonging to scheduled castes/scheduled tribes; Note I:- Candidates belonging to the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes and the Other Backward Classes who are also coming under the category of Persons with Benchmark Disability will be eligible for grant of cumulative age-relaxation under both the categories as per the Government of India instructions. Note II:- Notwithstanding the provision of age relaxation, candidates of Persons with Benchmark Disability will be considered to be eligible for appointment only if he/she (after such physical examination as the Government or appointing authority, as the case may be, may prescribe) is found to satisfy the requirements of physical and medical standards for the concerned Services/Posts to be allocated to the Persons with Benchmark Disability by the Government. Save as provided above, the age-limits prescribed can in no case be relaxed. Note III:- The date of birth, accepted by the Department is that entered in the Matriculation or Secondary School Leaving Certificate or in a certificate recognized by an Indian University as equivalent to Matriculation or in an extract from a Register of Matriculates maintained by a University which extract must be certified by the proper authority of the University or in the Higher Secondary or an equivalent examination certificate. These certificates are required to be submitted only at the time of applying for the post. No other document relating to age like horoscopes, affidavits, birth extracts from Municipal Government Corporation, Service records and the like will be accepted. The expression Matriculation/Higher Secondary Examination Certificate in this part of the Instruction include the alternative certificates mentioned above. Note IV:—Candidate should note that only the date of birth as recorded in the Matriculation/Secondary Examination certificate or an equivalent certificate on the date of submission of application will be accepted by the Department, and no subsequent request for its change will be considered or granted. Contd.P.3/- -3- Note V:—Candidates should also note that once a date of birth has been claimed by them and entered in the records of the Department for the purpose of admission to an Examination, no change will be allowed subsequently or at any other Examination of the Department on any grounds whatsoever. Note VI:-The candidate should exercise due care while entering their date of birth in the online Application Form for the post. If on verification at any subsequent stage, any variation is found in their date of birth from the one entered in their matriculation or equivalent Examination certificate, disciplinary action will be taken against them by the Department as per the Rules. 


c. MINIMUM EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS: Following qualifications are prescribed for all candidates: 

i. ESSENTIAL: Master of Science in Life Sciences or Bachelor of Veterinary Science or Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery or Bachelor of Engineering or Bachelor of Technology in the field of Biotechnology from a recognized University. 

ii. DESIRABLE: Doctor of Philosophy in Life Sciences or MD or Master of Veterinary Science or Master of Technology in the field of Biotechnology from a recognized University 

Note: 1. The candidate must hold a valid degree of any of Universities incorporated by an Act of the Central or State Legislature in India or other educational institutions established by an Act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as a University Under Section-3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956, or possess an equivalent qualification as on 01.03.2019.(In case, the final degree has not been issued, candidates may submit provisional degree from the University/Institute) 2. Candidates possessing professional and technical qualifications which are recognized by the Government as equivalent to professional and technical degree would also be eligible for admission to the examination. 

d. EXPERIENCE: (after acquiring essential qualifications, except for departmental candidates) FIVE years
