About Institute and Animal Biotechnology Centre:
ICAR-National Dairy Research Institute (Deemed University) is the premier organization that
provides Research and Development support for dairy development programmes of the nation. Over
the years, it has gained prominence as the front ranking research organization on global basis.
Animal Biotechnology Centre is one of the prestigious centres of the Institute. Activities on
biotechnology research at NDRI were initiated during mid eighties under a UNDP 'Centre of
Excellence Programme on Biotechnology’. This centre successfully used in vitro fertilization (IVF)
technique to produce the world’s first IVF calf in buffalo named ‘PRATHAM’ in 1990. Also the
goat kids by IVF and cattle calf by OPU-IVF technology was produced for the first time in India.
This centre is also known for their contribution in buffalo cloning and World’s first cloned buffalo
calf was produced in 2009 by hand guided cloning technique. At present the centre has developed
various impressive facilities for research and teaching in the area of animal tissue culture, in vitro
embryo production, somatic cell cloning, embryonic stem cell production, transgenesis, genome
analysis, expression genomics, proteomics and structural biology etc.

Eligibility:
Applications are invited for the training from under-graduate and post-graduate students of
Biotechnology.
A total of 15 students (10 under-graduate and 5 post-graduate students) will be
selected for this training.
How to apply:
Interested students may send their application in the given format along with copies of attested
certificates/marksheets and NOC from the competent authority of their respective organizations,
by post to ‘Training Coordinator’. The last date for receipt of applications is May 10, 2019. The
application may also be sent through email (training.abtc@gmail.com). The selected candidates will
be informed by May 15, 2019. Incomplete application forms will not be considered.
Selection criteria:
1. For the under-graduate students, a merit list will be prepared on the basis of the percentage of
marks obtained in 10th and 12th standard. (Formula: Percentage in 10th standard x 0.30 +
Percentage in 12th standard x 0.70).
2. For the post-graduate students, the formula for preparation of the merit list will be -
Percentage in 10th standard x 0.20 + Percentage in 12th standard x 0.30 + Percentage in
graduation x 0.50).
3. A maximum of only two students will be selected from any particular college/institute. If
more than two students from same college/institute qualify, only the first two in the merit list
will be considered.
4. The candidature may be cancelled if any information submitted is found to be wrong.
Note:
The training fee will be 12,000/- + GST @18% (for 6 weeks training).
No boarding and lodging will be provided by the Institute. (The students may avail the PG
facility available nearby).
