National Institute of Plant Genome Research, New Delhi is an Autonomous Research Institution funded by the Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science & Technology, Govt. of India, to pursue research on various aspects of plant genomics. The Institute is also in the process of establishing a NIPGR Translational Centre at Biotech Science Cluster, NCR, Faridabad. NIPGR invites applications from Indian Citizens for filling up the vacant posts on Direct Recruitment basis, as detailed below.

A. Scientists

Applicant should have excellent academic credentials along with the track record of scientific productivity evidenced by publications/patents/products in the frontier areas of Plant Biology such as, Computational Biology, Genome Analysis and Molecular Mapping, Molecular Mechanism of Abiotic Stress Responses, Nutritional Genomics, Plant Development and Architecture, Plant Immunity, Molecular Breeding, Transgenics for crop improvement and other emerging areas based on plant genomics.

Desirable:
Research experience in the relevant field.  The research experience should be evident from publications in above fields in reputed journals.

35 yrs
1st  Class M. Sc or equivalent having three years experience in relevant field or Ph.D. with 1 year Post-doctoral  research experience in the relevant field.
Desirable:

Ph.D. in related subject with capability of conducting independent research work.

Experience in generating transgenic plants, genome editing tools and plant tissue culture. Experience in generating transgenic in rice/chickpea/ mustard/ tomato plants will be preferred. The experience should be supported with good quality research publications in the relevant field.


B. Technical

The areas of desirable experience include Computation (software, hardware and data management); IPR Mapping & Patent Analysis; Instrument Maintenance; General Care; Central Instrumentation Facility; Molecular Biology (experimental work); Plant Breeding, Phenotyping & Field Work; Plant Growth Facility etc.

Desirable:

Experience in targeted and untargeted metabolomics/phytochemistry/analytical biochemistry. Expertise in sample preparation and separation of small molecule through chromatography-mass spectrometry. Skills should be proven with first author publication in standard Scopus/SCI journal.

25 yrs
Matriculation with science plus 2 years full time diploma in MLT with 3 years experience after MLT;
Or B.Sc. with 1 year experience;
Or Three years Diploma in Engineering Technology or Matric with ITI certificate in respective trade with five years experience in the Pay Level 4 (pre revised scale of ₹ 5,200 - 20,200 with GP of ₹ 2,400.

The selection would be made on the basis of written/ practical examination, as per guidelines prescribed by DoPT. The syllabus and modalities of exam to be decided by the Director, NIPGR.

General terms & conditions :
  • These posts carry usual allowances i.e. Dearness Allowances, House Rent Allowance, Transport Allowance etc., as admissible to the Central Government employees and as made applicable in NIPGR. The Pay Levels mentioned above are as per the pay structure of VIIth Pay Commission of the Government of India. Other benefits including NPS, Medical Reimbursement, Leave Travel Concession, Leave Encashment, Gratuity etc. are admissible as per rules of the Institute.

  • All applicants must fulfill the requirements of the post and other conditions stipulated in the advertisement as on the last date of the receipt of application. They are advised to satisfy themselves before applying that they possess the qualifications laid down for various posts as on the last date of receipt of the application. No enquiry asking for advice as to eligibility will be entertained. The prescribed qualifications are the minimum and mere possession of the same does not entitle candidates to be shortlisted. The duly constituted Screening Committee may adopt its own criteria for shortlisting the candidates, based on number of applications received and functional requirements of the Institute. Decision of the Director, NIPGR in this regard will be final and no correspondence or personal enquiries will be entertained by NIPGR in this behalf. The candidates should therefore, mention in the application all the qualifications and experience in the relevant area over and above the prescribed qualifications.

  • Upper age limit shall not be applicable for existing employees of the Institute or any employee of Department of Biotechnology if they apply for the posts of the Institute. Upper age limit may be relaxed by 01 year in case of exceptional and meritorious candidates by the approving authority prior to appointment for position in Level 14.

  • In case the candidate found otherwise suitable for the post of Pay Level 5, the prescribed eligibility criteria may be relaxed with the approval of the Competent Authority.

  • The prescribed qualifications should have been obtained through recognized Boards/ Universities/Institutions etc.

  • The period of experience in a discipline/area of work, wherever prescribed, shall be counted after the date of acquiring the minimum educational qualifications prescribed for that post.

  • Those working in Government/PSUs/Autonomous Bodies should apply through proper channel or produce 'NOC' at the time of attending written /practical examination.

  • Outstation unemployed SC/ST candidates who are called for written/practical examination will only be paid second class train fare from the actual place of undertaking the journey or from the normal place of residence whichever is nearer to Delhi Railway Station on production of relevant document of travel. However, reservation and sleeper charges and surcharge on superfast trains will be admitted if requisite ticket/receipt etc. is submitted as proof of having actually incurred the expenses. In the absence of valid details in the TA Claim, the surcharges, etc. will not be allowed.

  • Reservation for SC/ST/OBC/PH & other reserved categories will be as per Government of India norms. Relaxation for reserved categories shall be as per Government of India norms. Candidates belonging to reserved category must submit the relevant certificate along with their application.

  • Candidates should superscribe the name of the post on the top of the envelope.

  • NIPGR takes no responsibility for any delay in receipt or loss in postal transit of any application or communication.

  • Incomplete applications (i.e. without photographs, unsigned, without requisite documents etc.) will not be entertained and will be summarily rejected.

  • The candidate on appointment shall be on probation for a period of two years, which may be extended at the discretion of the Competent Authority. Further continuation, if any will depend on candidate's performance.

How to apply: The eligible and interested candidates are required to apply on-line in the application format and detailed information, available on the website of NIPGR. The applications other than online, will not be accepted. Applicants are also required to submit the hard copy, i.e. signed copy of the downloaded online application with one passport size photograph (pasted on the application duly signed across) along with self-attested documents in support of age, educational qualifications, experience, caste certificate etc., copies of the notable papers/publications & tentative research plans (for scientist positions) with at least three references together with name, address, emails, fax/telephone numbers, etc. of the referees. The last date of on-line submission of application is July 29 2019, 5.30 p.m. The downloaded hard copy of the application, addressed to the “Director, National Institute of Plant Genome Research, Aruna Asaf Ali Marg, Post Box No. 10531, New Delhi – 110067”, should reach on or before August 02, 2019. The submission of on-line application as well as hard copy of on-line application along with testimonials/certificates is mandatory.
