CDFD Hyderabad Recruit Personnel for DBT Funded 'NATIONAL GENOMICS CORE'

CDFD, an autonomous institute of the Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science and Technology, invites applications from Indian nationals for the following purely temporary vacancies in research project entitled “NATIONAL GENOMICS CORE” funded by DBT. The last date for receiving filled in applications is 31.08.2019. 

CDFD wishes to fill up the following posts in the project 

1) Chief Executive Officer (CEO): (01 No. post) 

Age Limit: 45 years 

Essential qualifications: 

1. PhD in Genomics/Life Science subjects 
2. Minimum 8 years of Post-PhD experience in genomics/Life Science research laboratory and/or industry (out of which minimum 3 years’ experience in managing genomics platforms/genomics or life science service industry) 

Desirable Qualifications: 

1. MBA from a reputed organization 
2. Experience of management and co-ordination of large multi-centre projects, liaising with international organizations 
3. Experience of running independently for profit/not for profit life science ventures 
4. Experience of preparing reports of projects, documents required by funders and clients, etc. 

Nature of Duty: Provide overall leadership, direction and vision to the Core, that involves meeting short term and long term objectives, forming and developing a team; oversee operations and setting processes for best in class deliverables; role also involves high level networking, formulating winning strategies, policies and periodically advising the Monitoring Committee and Governing Board of the Core. 

2) Project Coordinator – Administration: (01 No. post) 

Age Limit: 45 years 

Essential qualifications: 

1. Masters degree 2. Minimum 3 years’ management experience in service industry 

Desirable Qualifications:

1. MBA from a reputed organization 
2. Experience in life science/genomics services industry 
3. Experience in project-planning, oversight of time execution and delivery of service to clients. 

Nature of Duty: Will provide administrative support for management of Core activities. Will be responsible for business development for Core, achieving set objectives by creating adequate market coverage for expansion of its activities and generation of service revenues & managing cash flow for sustenance and expansion of the Core. 

4) Experimental Laboratory Manager: (01 No. post) 

Age Limit: 40 years 

Essential qualifications: 

1. PhD in Genomics/Life Science subjects 
2. Minimum 
3 years’ post-PhD experience in genomics platform technologies 

Desirable Qualifications: 

1. Degree/diploma in business administration 
2. Conversance with Quality Assurance and GLP 
3. Proven track record of independent academic work and leadership 
4. Two years’ experience in management of a service laboratory 

Nature of Duty: Will manage and coordinate experimental laboratory facilities, execute projects in time bound manner and implement Quality Assurance and GLP measures 

5) Computational Laboratory Manager: (01 No. post) 

Age Limit: 40 years 

 Essential qualifications: 

1. Phd in Statistics/Informatics/computational biology or related discipline 
2. Minimum 3 years’ post-PhD experience in computational analysis of massively parallel DNA sequencing data 

Desirable Qualifications: 

1. Degree/diploma in business administration 
2. Conversance with Quality Assurance and IT compliance measures 
 3. Proven track record of independent academic work and leadership 
4. Two years’ experience in management of a service laboratory 

Nature of Duty: Will manage and coordinate data analysis operations, execute data analysis projects in time bound manner and implement Quality Assurance and IT compliance measures.

6) Technical Associate (Experimental): (02 No. post) 

Age Limit: 35 years 

Essential qualifications: 

1. MSc or equivalent (or BSc with 3 years laboratory experience) in Genetics/Life Sciences/Biochemistry/related discipline 
2. Minimum 3 years of experience (in addition to above qualification) of working in high-throughput genomics platforms (massively parallel sequencing and microarray) 

Desirable Qualifications: 

1. Experience in whole genome/targeted sequencing, RNA-Seq, GWAS and Methylation Array 
2. Experience in laboratory automation plafforms 
3. Experience in a service laboratory 
4. Proficiency in massively parallel sequencing library preparation and/or operation of sequencing/microarray platforms 

Nature of Duty: Hands-on massively parallel sequencing, microarray data analysis, data analysis pipeline operations as well as other related laboratory activities 

7) Technical Associate (Computational): (02 No. post) 

Age Limit: 35 years 

Essential qualifications: 

1. M. Tech/MSc or B Tech with two years’ experience or equivalent in computer science / Bioinformatics or a related discipline 
2. Minimum 3 years of experience (in addition to above qualification) of working in analysis of massively parallel DNA sequencing data 
3. Proficiency of working in Unix (Linux) environment 

 Desirable Qualifications: 

1. Experience in handling of software packages, genomic databases and data analysis pipelines 
2. Proficiency in programming in C/C++ or Python 
3. Experience in a service laboratory 

Nature of Duty: QA/QC and analysis of raw sequence data generated by massively parallel DNA sequencing and microarray platforms, Programing, design and operation of massively parallel DNA sequencing data analysis pipelines as well as other related activities. 

General Terms and Conditions: 

1. No TA/DA will be paid for attending the interview. 
2. Depending on the qualifications, experience and recommendations of the Selection Committee, the selected candidates may be placed in a scale and designation lower than the grade advertised/applied (in the same group) 
3. All these positions are purely temporary and are initially for a maximum of one year. They could be extended/terminated depending on the continuation of the project(s). 
4. Reservation for SC/ST/OBC/Physically Handicapped/Ex-service person applicants will be as per Govt. of India rules. 
5. Relaxation of age for SC/ST/OBC/Physically Handicapped/Ex-service person/ Women applicants will be as per Govt. of India rules. 
6. Mere fulfilling the minimum qualifications will not entitle the candidate for being called for interview. The applications will be screened by a Committee and candidates found suitable will be called for interview. The decision of the Director, CDFD will be final in this respect and no correspondence will be entertained in this regard. 
7. Any of the selected individuals may from time to time be assigned to perform any other duties commensurate with their qualifications, by the Director, CDFD. 
 8. The Director, CDFD reserves the right to suitably change/relax any of the above conditions. He also reserves the right to accept or reject any application without assigning any reason.
