Applications are invited for one (01) purely temporary position of Junior Research Fellow (JRF) in the DBT, Govt. of
India sponsored project “Integrative approach for understanding the role of noncoding mutations in the evolution
of biological systems" under the Principal Investigator Dr. Pankaj Barah, Assistant Professor, Department of Molecular
Biology & Biotechnology, Tezpur University, Tezpur, Napaam - 784028, Assam.
The project will analyze large-scale
heterogeneous OMICs data generated from cancer genomics and plant genomics projects with integrative systems biology
based approaches by collaborating with experts from India and abroad.

Essential Qualifications: Masters degree (M.Sc./ M.Tech) in Bioinformatics/Molecular biology/ Biotechnology/
Computer Science/ IT/Physics/Mathematics/Statistics with at-least 60% marks or equivalent CGPA in aggregate or
B.Tech/M.Tech in Computer science & Engineering/ Bioinformatics/ Biotechnology or MCA with at-least 60% marks or
equivalent CGPA in aggregate.
Desirable: Preference will be given to the candidates having some experience in computational analysis of genome
sequences, Next Generation Sequencing data analysis. Candidates with biology background should have basic computer
programming skill and inclination towards learning and implementing computational tools for OMICs data analysis.
Candidates with Computer Science/ IT/Physics/Mathematics/Statistics background should have basic understanding of
biology and inclination towards solving biological problems by collaborating with biologists. Experience to work in high
performance computing environment will be added advantage.
Fellowship: Rs. 25,000/- (Rupees twenty five thousand) only + HRA as admissible per month for the 1
st two years and
Rs. 28,000/- (Rupees twenty eight thousand) only + HRA as admissible per month for the 3
rd year for SRF and applicable
to the candidate having post graduate degree in Basic Science or graduate degree in professional course with
NET/GATE/BET qualification or post graduate degree in professional course. Rs. 12,000/- (Rupees twelve thousand)
only + HRA as admissible per month for the 1
st two years and Rs. 14,000/- (Rupees fourteen thousand) only + HRA as
admissible per month for the 3
rd year for SRF, for the candidate without NET/GATE/BET qualification. HRA will not be
provided if campus accommodation is availed.
Duration: Initially for a period of one (01) year, which may be extended up to three (03) years or till completion of the
project depending upon satisfactory performance of the incumbent or until further order, whichever is earlier.
Age: Candidate shall not be more than 28 years of age on the last date of receipt of application. The upper age limit may
be relaxed as per the Govt. of India rules.
Shortlisted candidates may appear before the interview board with original and self-attested photocopies of mark sheets,
certificates from 10th standard onwards, testimonials, caste certificate (if applicable), experience certificate (if any),
certificates of NET/GATE/BET or similar examination qualifications, any other testimonials and a copy of recent signed
Curriculum Vitae (CV).
N.B. (1) No TA/DA will be paid for attending the interview.
(2) Those in employment or doing Ph.D. must submit ‘No Objection Certificate’ from the concerned employer /
Ph.D. Supervisor.
