invites application for engaging Junior Research
Fellows for the “Long Term Ecological Monitoring of Eastern Seascape of Mumbai and
Formulating a Conservation Blueprint for the Sewri–Nhava Seascape”.
Essential and Desirable qualifications are as follows:
(A) JRF Ornithology
1. Positions Junior Research Fellow (3) Ornithology
2 Emoluments Rs. 20,000 CTS, Health and accident insurance policy and
basic accommodation facility on sharing basis.
3. Duration Initially for one years (performance based). Those who will be
selected for Ph. D. will get 5-year tenure
4. Type of engagement Purely on contractual basis
5. Essential Qualification
1. Post Graduate Degree in Wildlife Science/Zoology/
Marine Biology/Life Sciences/Biodiversity and
Conservation/ Environmental Science from a
recognized university.
2. A sound knowledge of wader identification and various
bird count methods
6. Desirable Qualification
1. Experience/interest in intensive field work for bird
surveys, bird ringing, and bird behaviour studies.
2. Basic knowledge of statistics.
3. Good writing and communication skills.
7. Task Description
1. Field data collection on bird communities, bird ringing,
monitoring of bird behaviours.
2. Report writing
8. Age Limit Up to 28 years
9. Ph. D. positions Selected candidates will be entitled to register for Ph. D. from
Mumbai University after qualifying PET (Zoology) under this
project.
10. Other Selected candidates will be posted in Mumbai and need to
undertake field work around Sewri–Nhava Seascape.
(B) JRF Marine benthic studies
1. Positions
Junior Research Fellow (2) Marine benthic studies

identification and analysis
6. Desirable Qualification
1. Experience/interest in intensive benthos sample
collection and analysis.
2. Water quality analysis.
3. Basic knowledge of statistics.
4. Good writing and communication skills.
7. Task Description
1. Management for sample collections /analysis for
benthos/plankton/water parameters/
2. Sample collection and data analysis for water/sediment
quality (pollutants and heavy metals).
3. Report writing
8. Age Limit Up to 28 years
9. Ph. D. positions Selected candidates will be entitled to register for Ph. D. from
Mumbai University after qualifying PET (Zoology) under this
project.
10. Other Selected candidates will be posted in Mumbai and need to
undertake field work around Sewri–Nhava Seascape.
