Applications are invited for Special Ph.D. Admission Programme Under
CSIR/UGC/DST Inspire/DBT-JRF Scheme for Department of Biosciences and
Bioengineering of the Institute, as per details given below.

Category of Ph.D. Student to be Admitted: 
Full time REGULAR only
(A student in this category works full-time for his/her Ph.D. degree.) 
Minimum Eligibility Criteria for Admission:
For admission to the Ph.D. programme (Regular category) under CSIR/UGC/DST
Inspire/DBT-JRF Scheme in the Department of Biosciences and Bioengineering, a
candidate must satisfy one of the following criteria: 
 The candidate must have a valid CSIR/UGC/DST Inspire/DBT-JRF qualification in
Life Sciences or Biotechnology or related subjects along with following criteria: 
1. First class throughout his/her 10th, 12th, Bachelor’s (three or four year) and
Master’s (two or three years). 
2. Four-year Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Technology/Medical Sciences/
Science or equivalent in a relevant area with a minimum CPI of 7.0 or 70% of
marks, which is as per the Institute rules. 
3. Candidate having a Two-year Master's degree (after completion of 4-year
Bachelor's degree) or three-year Master's degree (after completion of 3-year
Bachelor's degree) in Engineering/Technology/Medical Sciences/Science/
Veterinary Sciences/Pharmacy in a relevant area with minimum Cumulative
Performance Index (CPI) of 6.0 or 60% of marks.
Or 
A candidate with a Two-year M.Sc degree (after completion of 3-year
Bachelor's degree) in a relevant area with minimum CPI of 6.0 or 60% marks.
If a final year Masters student i.e. a student who has appeared in the qualifying
degree examination and his/her results are awaited OR 
he/she is going to
appear in all the subjects of his/her qualifying degree examination, is also
eligible to apply and sit for the selection process provided he/she has a valid
CSIR/UGC/DST Inspire/DBT-JRF certificate. If selected, he/she can join the
program. Please note that, for such candidates, selections shall be provisional.
And all provisionally selected candidates shall have to produce their original
pass certificates and Mark Sheets of the qualifying degree examination within
One Month of the selection process as per the rule of the institution, for
regularization – failure to which their admissions shall stand automatically
cancelled. 
Relaxation for SC/ST/PwD Candidates:
Eligibility criteria will be relaxed by 5% marks or 0.5 CPI for SC/ST/PD applicants,
which is as per the Institute rules. 
OBC (Non-creamy layer) and General-EWS (Economically weaker section)
candidates will have to enclose relevant certificate or a self-declaration statement as
per format indicated below. OBC(NCL) or Gen-EWS Certificate, issued by
competent authority, on or after 01-04-2020, shall only be acceptable. The
candidates applying under these categories must submit self-declaration
certificates in case they are unable to obtain the certificates issued by
competent authority.
