Department of Life Sciences, School of Natural Sciences, Shiv Nadar University, invites applications from individuals seeking competitive environment for Innovative Research and teaching.
We are looking for the applicants in the areas of Translational Biology, Regeneration Biology and Molecular Systems Biology. We are especially looking for applicants working on various aspects of Epigenetics and/or using C. elegans, zebrafish, mouse or emerging alternative model systems preferably with experience in Genomics, Proteomics.

About the department
The Department of Life sciences (DLS) aims to be one of the premier departments in India for biology teaching and research by integration of both innovative teaching and expansion of knowledge through research and scholarship. We encourage to conduct research on problems of national and societal importance by collaborating with government research programs or industry. Our PhD degree is granted in Bioinformatics and Life Sciences depending upon the choice of students’ interest. Our faculty have diverse expertise and many of our research projects are interdisciplinary in nature, involving collaborations across the globe. Besides, the department has facilities including FACS ARIA III, Confocal Laser Scanning Microscope, Real-Time PCR, Advanced Fluorescence Microscope, and Culture facilities (BSL-2 and BSL3 ) for pathogenic organisms. Computational facilities at SNS include a high performance IBM cluster (“Magus”) consisting of 32 compute nodes (plus two nodes with GPU processors) delivering 332.8 Giga flops by each node and a theoretical peak performance of 10.649 TF from overall compute nodes. Additionally, multiple stand-alone Linux workstations are being used for teaching and research purposes. The facility is enriched with multiple softwares for Bioinformatics and Cheminformatics. A state-of-the-art SPF Experimental Animal Facility is being planned and will be commissioned in 2022. A genomics facility with NGS is also being set up. Current research interests of the faculty include, Molecular and Systems Biology, Regeneration Biology, Translational Biology including Drug Discovery, Genomics, Bioinformatics, Disease Biology, Developmental Biology, and immunology.
