ATAL Academy Online Faculty Development Programme

Computational Synthetic and Systems Biology

| 26 - 30 July 2021 | Online | Biosciences and Bioengineering, IIT Guwahati |
Synthetic and Systems Biology is changing the way biologists investigate living systems. Systems Biology borrows ideas and tools from engineering, physics, computer science, and mathematics to understand emergent behaviors in Life. On the other hand, Synthetic Biology intends to engineer a living system directly. Both Systems and Synthetic Biology heavily depend upon mathematical modeling of biological phenomena. In this online FDP, we will learn about three critical areas of computational synthetic and systems biology− analysis of large molecular networks, dynamical models of biological circuits, and metabolic engineering. The lectures will cover both basic concepts as well overviews of recent developments in these fields.

| Key topics of the course

  Basic concepts of graph theory.

  Graph-theoretic analysis of biological networks.

Reconstruction of biological networks from data.

Building models in cellular biology using differential equations.

  Dynamical properties of biological systems.

  Dynamical modeling of molecular circuits.

  Synthetic molecular circuits.

  Constraint-based modeling of metabolic networks.

  Genome-scale modeling of metabolism.

  Model-driven metabolic engineering.

| About ATAL academy

All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) is involved in developing quality technical education in the country by initiating various schemes launched by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Govt. of India, e.g., SWAYAM, MOOCs, etc. AICTE Training And Learning (ATAL) Academy is one such initiative.

The main objective of ATAL academy is “to plan and help in imparting quality technical education in the country and to support technical institutions in fostering research, innovation and entrepreneurship through training in various emerging areas.”

Through ATAL academy, faculty development Programs (FDPs) are organized to impart training in several thrust and emerging areas.
