RECRUITMENT NOTICE
Advertisement No. MoES/NCCR/Rectt.PS/31/2021
National Centre for Coastal Research (NCCR), Chennai, an
attached office of the Ministry of Earth Sciences (MoES), established in 1998,
has been implementing various projects in coastal research to provide
systematic information, solutions and services for effective management of
coastal areas.
Applications are invited for filling up of temporary project positions for
various programs such as Coastal Process and Hazards, Marine Pollution and
Marine Litter, Ecosystem and Critical Habitats, and Marine Spatial Planning.
The posts are purely on temporary and on contract basis, initially for a period
of 1 year and may likely to be extended, based on the performance review
and based on the project requirements.
The details of project posts, number of vacancies and emoluments are
given below:
1 Project Scientist III

Marine Biology -
Marine Litter
PS-III-MB1
i. Master’s Degree in Environmental Science/
Marine Science / Marine Biology or
equivalent from a recognized University /
Institute with at least first class not less than
60% marks.
ii. Minimum 7 years experience in research or
teaching in the relevant field or collection of
water, sediment, marine litter and
microplastics and biological samples from
the coastal and offshore environment.
iii. Experience in handling various analytical
instruments for the analysis of chemical
oceanographic parameters.
i. Ph.D. in biological or
environmental science or
equivalent from a recognized
University / Institute
To carry out R&D studies on
marine litter and
microplastics.
Planning, coordination and
execution of beach surveys
independently for marine
litter studies, coastal

quality criteria development, risk
assessment of contaminants, water quality
monitoring, planktonology, biomarker
enzyme assays, and histopathological
studies.
iii. Experience in designing and execution of
field survey and sampling, isolation and
culture of plankton, laboratory and in-situ
field toxicity experiments for risk
assessment of contaminants.
i. Ph.D. in Marine Biology/Zoology
or equivalent from a recognized
University / Institute.
