Three-days Online Workshop in "Basics of Biostatistics with SPSS" from 29th -31st July

About the Course

“SPSS is a powerful tool which can perform highly complex data manipulations and analysis with simple instructions”. It is the most popular statistical packages used by academic and health researchers, market researchers and survey companies, government entities, marketing organizations and data miners.

The course is designed for individuals with no prior knowledge of SPSS.

Highlights of the Course

1.    Types of data with biological examples.

2.    Interpret differences in data distributions.

3.    Interpret and explain a p-value

4.    Perform a one-sample t-test, binomial test, chi-square for goodness of fit. and interpret the results; calculate a 95% confidence interval for the difference in population means

5.    Understand and interpret results from Analysis of Variance (ANOVA), a technique used to compare means amongst more than two independent populations (Mann-Whitney, Wilcoxon, Kruskal-Wallis etc.)

6.    Correlation (Pearson/ Spearman/ Kendall’s Tau ‘b’)

7.    Regression (Linear/Multiple/ Sequential) Concepts and Interpretation.

8.    Use SPSS to perform simple operations with data: define variables, recode variables, create dummy variables, select and weight cases, split files.

The things you will learn

1.    To understand the basic concepts of Biostatistics

2.    Practical application of the concepts

3.    To interpret and analyse your data, if any without any assistant in near future.

4.    Confident in handling data and working with SPSS.
