Applications are invited from Indian Nationals for the recruitment of two (02) Research Associates purely on temporary basis at the
Biological Sciences Division of the Indian Statistical Institute. The selected candidates would be placed in Category I, II and III depending on
the qualification and experience as per OM No.SR/S9/Z-08/2018 dated 30 January 2019.
Qualification : Ph.D. degree with at least one publication in a Science Citation Indexed (SCI) Journal. Those who have
submitted their thesis may also apply.
Preference will be given to candidates who have completed their
Ph.D. from organizations other than ISI.
Human Genetics Unit (HGU) invites applications for one (1) Research Associate in the areas of
Biomedical `Genomics/ Epigenetics/ Molecular Genetics/ Statistical Genetics. It is preferable that the
research interests of the applicant matches or closely complement those of the faculty members of the

Agricultural & Ecological Research Unit (AERU) invites applications for one (1) Research Associate
in the areas of Agriculture/ Life Science/ Mathematical Biology/ Statistical Ecology. It is essential that the
research interests of the applicant matches or closely complement those of the faculty members of the

Pay : Consolidated monthly emoluments of `47000/- (Rupees forty seven thousand only), `49000/- (Rupees
forty nine thousand only) and `54000/- (Rupees fifty four thousand only) plus HRA as per rules of the
Institute per month depending on the qualification and experience in the three categories respectively.
Tenure of appointment : The tenure of appointment will be initially upto 31 March 2022 from the date of his/her joining the
Institute which may be extended later/ terminated earlier, depending on availability of funds and
performance of the candidate. Based on performance of the candidate, the term of research associateship
can be up to a maximum of two years.
Age : Upper age limit shall be 35 years as on 01 November 2021 with usual relaxation for
SC/ST/OBC/differently abled candidates. Age relaxation may also be given to outstanding candidates or
candidates with relevant experience.
Eligible and interested candidates should apply for the position with a cover letter and curriculum vitae merged as a single
pdf addressed to the Professor-in-Charge, Biological Sciences Division of the Institute with the subject header “Application for RA at
BSD”, which is required to include (a) Name (In block letters), (b) Permanent/Present Address, (c) Email Address, (d) Telephone/Mobile No., (e) Parent’s/Spouse’s Name, (f) Date of birth, (g) Academic Qualifications (with percentage of
marks obtained in each examination starting from 10th class), (h) Experience (if any), (i) Date of submission of Ph.D. thesis/ Date of
receipt of the Ph.D. degree, (j) List of post-doctoral positions (if any), (k) List of publications and preprints, (l) a research statement
including a summary of work done, (m) copies of papers/preprints along with at least two recommendation letters including one from
the thesis supervisor should also be sent, (n) Aadhar Card No., (o) SC/ST/OBC/Differently abled status, self-attested soft copies of all
documents/ testimonials must be received latest by 15 December 2021 through e-mail to: pnc_bsd@isical.ac.in. The recommenders
should mail the letters directly to the address mentioned above with the subject header “Reference letter for ”.
At the time of joining, selected candidate has to produce all relevant documents/testimonials in original for verification and a medical certificate
of fitness from the Medical Officer of the Institute. Failing this, the institute will offer the position to the next candidate in the merit list prepared
for this purpose. Shortlisted candidates will be asked to give a seminar followed by an interaction with the faculty. The selected candidate will
be posted in Kolkata or Giridih. All recruitment procedures will be carried out with maintaining all preventive measures to prevent the spread of
the COVID-19 Global epidemic as directed by the Government of India. The selected candidates needs to submit a written report to the
Professor-in-Charge, Biological Sciences Division and the Deputy Director of the Indian Statistical Institute about the work done after the
