About the Post: Fellow E (Scientist D)- 01 Post -OBC
The Institute for Stem Cell Science and Regenerative Medicine (inStem) is recruiting for a
Regulatory Compliance Officer. inStem is an integral part of the Bangalore Life Science Cluster
(BLiSC) and shares facilities and infrastructure with the National Centre for Biological Sciences
(NCBS-TIFR) and the Centre for Molecular and Cellular Platforms (CCAMP).
The Regulatory
Compliance Officer would thus ensure that scientific activities on campus operate in conformity with
current regulatory and statutory requirements. The Regulatory Compliance Officer will work in
coordination with the Director and Heads of Research as well as institutional statutory committees
of all BLiSC institutes to achieve these goals. Importantly, the candidate must be able to prepare and
present clear and concise compliance reports to state and national agencies and assist faculty and
junior scientists with meeting regulatory requirements for grant and fellowship applications.
The Responsibilities include:
• Keep up to date with evolving regulatory and statutory policies and guidelines.
• Refine, update and implement organizational policies, standards, and procedures to comply
with applicable regulations.
• Organize and arrange meetings of statutory committees that regulate work on campus
including the Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBSC), Institutional Human Ethics
Committee (IHEC), Institutional Stem Cell Committee (ISCC); Institutional Animal Ethics
Committee (IAEC).
• Keep updated records on the status of applications to different national (and international)
regulatory committees and track requirements for progress reports or renewal applications.
• Assist faculty and staff with the completion of relevant forms to various regulatory and
statutory committees
• Develop, review and revise written safety related plans according to relevant regulatory
guidelines. Communicates plans to campus constituents and monitors progress of plans,
reporting compliance annually.
• Remain current on new developments and laws on research practices in the context of human
and animal health as well as biodiversity areas through participation in professional
organizations.
The work requires knowledge of the practice of modern biological research both in theory and
practice typically acquired through completion of a Master’s degree in the biological sciences or a
closely related field with wet lab experience.
PhD is desirable and five years of previous
experience relevant to statutory and regulatory requirements in a biomedical research environment
is desirable.
A combination of education and experience will be considered.
Excellent communication skills (both written and oral) evidenced by background in preparing
comprehensive reports and executive summaries incorporating complex, highly technical
