NIPGR Plant Biotech/Bioinformatics RA/SRF Openings

Applications are invited from suitable candidates for filling up the purely temporary positions of two Junior Research Fellow, one Senior Research Fellow, one Research Associate-III and one Resarch Associate-II in the below mentioned projects of Dr. Jitender Giri, Scientist, NIPGR. The details are as under: 1. Indo-Swiss Joint research project entitled “Beyond transgenic plants: use of precise genome editing for improving plant growth under low phosphorus input”. 

Junior Research Fellow (two posts): 

Emoluments as per DST/DBT norms and as sanctioned in the project. 

Qualification: Candidates selected through National Eligibility Tests as mentioned in the DST Office Memorandum number SR/S9/Z-08/2018 dated January 30, 2019 and having M.Sc. degree or equivalent (with minimum 60% marks) in Agriculture, Plant Science/Botany, life science or equivalent are eligible to apply. 

Candidates having laboratory experience in plant tissue culture, molecular biology, biochemistry or field experience of rice research would be given preference. 

2. DBT multi -institutional project entitled “Targeting Pup 1 independent mechanisms for improving low soil phosphorus tolerance and use- efficiency in rice”. 


Emoluments as per DST/DBT norms and as sanctioned in the project. 

Qualification: Candidates selected through National Eligibility Tests as mentioned in the DST Office Memorandum number SR/S9/Z-08/2018 dated January 30, 2019 and having M.Sc. degree or equivalent (with minimum 60% marks) in Agriculture, Plant Science/Botany, life science or equivalent with two years of post M.Sc. research experience are eligible to apply. 

Candidates having laboratory experience in molecular biology, biochemistry or field experience of rice research would be given preference. The candidature must be supported with published research papers in standard refereed journals. 


Emoluments as per DST/DBT norms & as sanctioned in the project. 

Qualification: Candidates having Ph.D. degree in Life Sciences (including Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Plant Physiology) or equivalent are eligible to apply. 

Candidates having prior experience in Bioinformatics, Plant breeding, GWAS, QTL mapping studies would be given preference. The candidate must have published at least two papers as first author in reputed international journals. 

3. DST project entitled “Unlinking phosphate deficiency responses from their adverse effects on growth in rice”, under Swarnajayanti Fellowship. 

Research Associate-II (One post): 

Emoluments as per DST/DBT norms & as sanctioned in the project. 

Qualification: Candidates having Ph.D. degree in Life Sciences (including Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Plant Physiology) or equivalent are eligible to apply. 

Candidates having prior experience in plant biochemistry and Gene-editing would be given preference. The candidate must have published at least two papers as first author in reputed international journals. 

The above positions are completely on temporary basis and co-terminus with the project. The fellowship amount for the above positions is as sanctioned in the project and as per DBT/DST norms. The initial appointment will be for one year or till the tenability of the project whichever is earlier and the same can be curtailed/extended on the basis of assessment of the candidate's performance and discretion of the Competent Authority. NIPGR reserves the right to select the candidate against the above post depending upon the qualifications and experience of the candidate. Reservation of posts shall be as per Govt. of India norms. The appointment may be terminated any time by giving one month notice by either side. The applicants will have no claim implicit or explicit for consideration against any regular position of NIPGR.

Canvassing in any form or bringing influence, political or otherwise, will lead to disqualification of the candidate(s). The candidates must ascertain their eligibility before applying, as ineligible candidates will not be interviewed.
