Yenepoya Research Center PhD Openings on Mass Spectrometry-based Proteomic & Metabolomic Investigations

Ph.D. student positions on mass spectrometry-based proteomic and metabolomic investigations on cancer biology, neurological disorders and infectious diseases at Center for Systems Biology and Molecular Medicine (http://csbmm.yenepoya.res.in/), Yenepoya Research Center, Yenepoya (Deemed to be University), Mangalore

The Center for Systems Biology and Molecular Medicine (CSBMM) is established at Yenepoya University, Mangalore, to bring together the teams of biologists and clinicians using advanced OMICs platforms to investigate molecular underpinnings of complex life conditions including growth, metabolism, human diseases, host-pathogen interactions, response to therapy and healing, molecular targets of drugs including traditional medicines and drug resistance. The dynamic team composed of mass spectrometrists, molecular biologists, data curators, programmers and clinicians work within the frameworks of ‘molecularizing’ various aspects of biology.

We are looking for highly motivated individuals, preferably with a previous work experience with mass spectrometry, HPLC or Omics data analysis to join our team as Junior/Senior Research Fellows, who can further carry-on enrolling in Ph.D. programs at Yenepoya University. Each Research Fellow will have opportunities to carry out several research projects in diverse fields of biology including but not restricted to infectious diseases, cancer, big data analysis, data integration and biological databases. The Ph.D. fellows will utilize cutting-edge technologies to decode the molecular mechanisms, signaling pathways and metabolic pathways. The research will be conducted using a multidisciplinary approach employing high-throughput genomics, proteomics, metabolomics and molecular biology tools to maximize discovery, always with the intent to translation. We seek highly exceptional candidates with a master’s degree in any field of life sciences or chemistry with zeal and enthusiasm to dissect the molecular underpinnings of biological dynamics.

Application process

1. JRF and SRF positions in the proteomic and metabolomic analysis of human diseases using high-resolution mass spectrometry.

Qualifications for JRF:

· 1. M.Sc. or M.Tech in any field of Life Sciences

· 2. JRF funding from CSIR-UGC NET, DBT NET, BINC and DST-INSPIRE is desirable

Qualifications for SRF:

· 1. M.Sc. or M.Tech in any field of Life Sciences

· 2 years research experience and minimum 1 publication in any peer-reviewed journal

Selected JRFs and SRFs will be extensively trained in sample prep and data analysis of proteomic, multi PTM and global metabolomic experiments in the context of cancers, neurological and infectious diseases, high-resolution mass spectrometry, maintenance of HPLC and a number of molecular biology techniques. Interested candidates need to send their detailed CV by email to: keshav@yenepoya.edu.in with a subject line either as “JRF in proteomics/metabolomics” or “SRF in proteomics/metabolomics.” Shortlisted candidates will be contacted within 15 days from date of application.
