Vacancy for Research Personnel under Projects

Application

Sálim Ali Centre for Ornithology and Natural History (SACON), under the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Government of India wishes to engage the following research personnel (Indian national only) on purely temporary basis through online Interview to be conducted by SACON for the shortlisted candidates. Details of the vacancies and application procedures are given below.

  1. SENIOR RESEARCH BIOLOGIST – 01 POSITION
    • Project Title: Monitoring of avifauna for the areas of Sewri, Thane creek and adjoining region as part of Environmental monitoring programme.
    • Essential Qualifications: 1) Post graduate degree in Wildlife biology/ Ecology/ Zoology/ Environmental Science, 2) Two years of field research experience in the relevant field and 3) Minimum of one peer-reviewed publication
    • Desirable Qualifications: Research experience in avifaunal studies/ Environmental Impact Assessments/ Wildlife surveys. Expertise in Bird identification/ ringing/ tagging etc., Experience in ecological data collection, analysis and Report writing, Good command over English & Hindi.
    • Age limit as on 21-Feb-2022 : 32 years
    • Fellowship: Rs 35,000 + HRA
    • Description of Work: The work involves extensive travel, strenuous field work and data collection from field sites with bare minimum facilities. Also involves data collection analysis and writing periodic reports.
  2. JUNIOR RESEARCH BIOLOGIST – 01 POSITION
    • Project Title: Bird /Wildlife Hazards to aircrafts in Indian Civil airfields- Calicut
    • Essential Qualifications: 1) Post graduate degree in Wildlife biology/ Ecology/ Zoology/ Environmental Science
    • Desirable Qualifications: Research experience in avifaunal studies/ Environmental Impact Assessments/ Wildlife surveys. Expertise in Bird identification/ ringing/ tagging etc., Experience in ecological data collection, analysis and Report writing, Good command over English & Hindi.
    • Age limit as on 21-Feb-2022 : 28 years
    • Fellowship: Rs. 31,000 + HRA
    • Description of Work: The work involves extensive travel and stay at field sites with bare minimum facilities for the collection of field data on avifauna. Involves strenuous field work and data collection analysis and writing periodic reports.
  3. JUNIOR RESEARCH FELLOW/ JUNIOR RESEARCH BIOLOGIST* – 01 POSITION
    • Project Title: A non-invasive approach to understanding the habitat use, activity regime, and movement ecology of Indian Rock Python, Python molurus from two select locations in India
    • Essential Qualifications: Post graduate degree with minimum 55% in Wildlife Biology/ Zoology/Conservation Biology/ Biodiversity and Conservation/ Animal Sciences/ Environment Science/Conservation and Animal Science related subjects
    • Desirable Qualifications:1) Excellent communication skill in English, 2) Proficiency in Hindi language, 3) Two-wheeler/Four Wheeler Driving License, 4) NET/GATE qualification
    • Age limit as on 21-Feb-2022 : 28 years.
    • Fellowship: Rs. 31,000 + HRA (25,000+ HRA for Non NET/GATE candidates)
    • Description of Work: The work involves extensive travel and stays at field sites with bare minimum facilities for the collection of field data on Indian Rock Python. Involves strenuous fieldwork and data collection analysis and writing periodic reports.

( * Non NET/GATE Candidates will be paid Rs. 25000 + HRA and will be designated as Junior Research Biologist).

How to Apply:

  • The application should be made in the prescribed format (see format attached below). The format can also be downloaded from our website (https://www.sacon.in/careers/)
  • Interested candidates, who fulfill all essential qualifications are required to submit the scanned/ PDF copy of the duly filled application form in PDF format, by email with subject line mentioning the name of the respective project and position applied to recruitments@sacon.in with a CC to rcsacon@gmail.com so as to reach SACON latest by 17:30Hrs on 21-Feb-2022 .
  • Application form should accompany scanned copies of all supporting documents and testimonials as a single separate PDF file, with all the proofs of educational qualifications in chronological order (starting from the most recent one). After all the Educational certificates add other documents also in chronological order.
  • Each application form should be complete along with copies of testimonials of essential and desirable qualifications, research experience, date of birth, community, extracurricular activities etc. Please DO NOT send hard copies of application forms now.
  • The shortlisted candidates will be informed through email/telephone to attend an on-line interview. The details of the online interview will be informed to the shortlisted candidates well in advance.
  • If selected, all original documents in support of qualifications, age, experience etc. should be produced by the candidate for verification before joining SACON and submit the hard copies of the filled-in application forms along with self-attested true copies of all supporting documents at the time of joining
  • If selected, all original documents should be produced for verification before joining the centre.

GENERALTERMS & CONDITIONS

  1. Candidates applying for the above positions should possess all the essential Qualifications (with originals of supporting documents) as on the date of application deadline.
  2. A candidate can apply for maximum two advertised positions only. Candidates applying for two positions should submit separate sets of application forms and attachments.
  3. Upper Age limit : The upper age limit shall be relaxable as per Govt. of India rules in vogue.
  4. Selected candidates may be allowed hostel accommodation at SACON as per availability. Other allowances and benefits to the research personnel will be admissible as per the rules.
  5. Canvassing in any form is liable to rejection of the candidature.

  7. Incomplete Applications and applications received after the stipulated timeline will be rejected. Applications not received in the prescribed format and/or without the stipulated essential qualifications/experience are also liable for rejection.
  8. Selected candidates are expected to join IMMEDIATELY as the projects have a very tight timeline.
  9. Candidates are expected to be FULLY vaccinated against COVID-19 at the time of joining
