Science Academies’ Refresher Course on 

‘Modern Biotechnology Tools and Techniques in Biodiversity Conservation’ 

12–25 April 2022

A Refresher Course on ‘Modern Biotechnology Tools and Techniques in Biodiversity Conservation’ will be held at Bharathiar University, Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu from 12 to 25 April 2022 for the benefit of faculty involved in teaching undergraduate and postgraduate courses. 

Participants in this course will gain hands-on experience with about 20 experiments related to biodiversity conservation. Some of the experiments are in (a) plant tissue culture, (b) animal cell line, (c) cryopreservation, (d) aqua culture, (e) soil health management, (f) microbial diversity, (g) floral/fauna biodiversity, (h) soil/water diversity, (i) ecosystem analysis, (j) molecular techniques, (k) gene banks, (l) germplasm, (m) digital herbarium, (n) instrumentation techniques, (o) geoinformatics and (p) bioprospecting. 

This course is sponsored by Indian Academy of Sciences, Bengaluru, Indian National Science Academy, New Delhi and The National Academy of Sciences, India, Prayagraj. This Refresher course may be useful to enhance the quality of science education and the experiments may be included in universities, autonomous colleges, and advanced science and technical institutions involved in education. 

This refresher course is covered with lectures, power-point presentations, discussions/interactions, laboratory experiments, live demonstrations, project model exhibitions and problem-solving tutorial sessions. Applications are invited from teachers with experience in teaching undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Botany, Zoology, Biotechnology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Environmental Sciences and allied Life/Biological Science courses. The number of seats will be 35 only. 

Selected participants will be provided with travel assistance (limited to three-tier AC train fare), accommodation and local hospitality during the Course in addition to course materials. Interested applicants must submit their application
