1. Senior Research Fellow (One) Rs.35000/- + HRA
Desirable Qualification
- The position is completely temporary and co-terminus with the project. The fellowship will be as per sanction in the project and/or as per. The initial appointment may be for three months or as per recommendation of the selection committee, which can be extended on the basis of assessment of the candidate’s performance and discretion of the Competent Authority. The eligible candidates may further be shortlisted based on the qualification/experience depending on the total number of applications received. JNU may select candidate against the above post depending upon the qualifications and experience of the candidate and reserves the right to relax any of the qualification(s) in case the candidate is found otherwise well qualified by the Selection Committee.

Applications are invited for the following post in the DBT funded project entitled “Center for Computational Biology and Bioinformatics: Infrastructure, Education, Training and Research in Computational Biology and Bioinformatics, at Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi” at the School of Computational & Integrative Sciences, Jawaharlal Nehru University.
Project Scientist-1: Doctoral Degree in Science/ Engineering or Master’s Degree in Engineering or Technology (Life Sciences/Biotechnology/Bioinformatics/Plant Biology or any other related field) from a recognized Institute/ University.
Desirable: Two years of experience in large-scale biological data analysis/ developing Bioinformatics or related software tools/ databases with a proven record of publications and/or software products in the public domain.
The project Scientist will be responsible for carrying out research activities in the field of Bioinformatics and emerging computational technologies, needed for data analyses, creating web and standalone tools in this area. He/she may be engaged in teaching/ training on the topics of Bioinformatics/ Computational biology, helping SCIS faculty in preparing manuscripts and research grant applications/ reports from time to time as per the time schedule advised by the PI.
The selected candidates will be appointed on purely temporary basis initially for a period of six months, which may be extended further based on the performance evaluation and subject to the availability/ release of funds by the sponsoring body (DBT).

Junior Research Fellow (two posts): M.Sc. degree or equivalent (with minimum of 55% marks) in Life Sciences/Biotechnology/Bioinformatics/Computational Biology or other related field with NET/GATE qualification. Good computer skills (Linux, Perl, Java, Python, MySQL etc.), along with proven experience in NGS data analysis, bioinformatics and/or advanced molecular biology techniques is highly desirable.
The qualification requirements and fellowship will be as per sanction in the project and/or as per SERB rules. The initial appointment may be for six months or as per recommendation of the selection committee, which can be extended on the basis of assessment of the candidate’s performance and discretion of the Competent Authority. The eligible candidates may further be shortlisted based on the qualification/experience depending on the total number of applications received. JNU may select candidate against the above post depending upon the qualifications and experience of the candidate and reserves the right to relax any of the qualification(s) in case the candidate is found otherwise well qualified by the Selection Committee.
