Advertisement for the position of Research Associate and Field Worker in a DBT funded project

Applications are invited for a purely temporary positions of one Research Associate (RA) and a Field Worker in a DBT funded project entitled “CRISPR/Cas9-based editing of OsERF12, ….  for potential improvement of growth and yield of indica rice"” under the supervision of Prof. Ananda K. Sarkar, at the School of Life Sciences, JNU.

  1. Research Associate (RA) (one Post): Emoluments as per DBT/University norms.

Eligibility/Essential Qualification: Candidates should have a doctorate (Ph.D.) degree (awarded) in the discipline of Life Sciences (including Plant Developmental Biology/Plant Molecular Biology) are eligible to apply.

Desirable: Candidate should have an excellent academic track record. Work experience in the area of plant molecular and developmental biology and production of transgenic/genome-edited crop plant is desirable for the position.

  1. Field worker (one post): Emoluments as per DBT/University norms.

Eligibility/Essential Qualification: Candidates should have graduation qualified.

Desirable: Candidate should have work experience in association with plant research and plant handling in laboratory/glass house and field.

Tenure: The above position is purely temporary and co-terminus with the project/scheme. The initial appointment will be for one year/six months or till the tenability of the project/scheme whichever is earlier, which can be curtailed/extended on the basis of assessment of the candidate's performance and discretion of the Competent Authority. SLS/JNU reserves the right to select the candidate against the above posts depending upon the qualification and experience of the candidate. Reservation of posts shall be as per Govt. of India norms. The appointment may be terminated any time by giving one month notice by either side. The applicants will have no claim implicit or explicit for consideration against any regular position of the University.

Applications are invited for the following post in a DBT-sponsored project “Studying the catalytic subunit of the GPI-N-acetylglucosaminyl transferase in C. albicans”.

JRF: One post

Lab Attendant: One post

Qualifications (JRF):

Minimum essential qualifications: Candidate should have an M.Sc. degree in any branch of Life Sciences with a good academic record and practical research experience in molecular biological methods used in the study of yeast/ fungal biology. Candidates without wet-lab experience in handling yeast/ fungal cultures will not be considered. The candidate should necessarily have qualified the CSIR/UGC NET-LS/JRF or equivalent exam.

Desirable qualifications: Candidates with laboratory experience of at least 3-6 months in techniques such as cloning, extraction of RNA and DNA, RT-PCR, and enzyme assays would be preferred.

Qualifications (Lab attendant):

Candidates must be 10+2 pass with at least 5 years of laboratory experience. The candidate must have experience in office/ lab cleaning and maintenance, washing of glassware, water distillation, autoclaving, discard etc. Besides, she/he will be expected to maintain records and handle other official paperwork as entrusted to him from time to time.

JRF/Project Associate-I: One post
