WALK – IN – INTERVIEW for engaging 2 Project Biologists (PB)
on Contract Basis
The Wildlife Institute of India, Dehra Dun invites application for Walk-in-interview for
engaging 2 Project Biologists (PB) for the Project entitled “BASIC STUDY DESIGN OF
BIODIVERSITY ASSESSMENT FOR HIMACHAL PRADESH” purely on contractual
basis for a period of 05 Months. The EQ, DQ and other details of the Position are as provided
below. Please note that the project is in harsh terrain and minimum logistic support will be
available.

Position (01) Project Biologist (Avian Ecology)
Emoluments INR 30,000 p.m (consolidated including HRA)

Essential
Qualification
1. M.Sc. Degree in Zoology/ornithology/ Wildlife Science/
Environmental Science with minimum of 60% aggregate
marks from a recognized University
2. Experience in avian ecology, biodiversity
characterization, field sampling in Himalayan area
Desirable
Qualification/Skills
Good knowledge of avian fauna of Himachal Pradesh
Research experience on aspects of Himalayan region with field and
analytical skills.
Knowledge of biodiversity assessment
methods, scientific communication skills and bio-statistical
software
A keen desire and ability to carryout arduous field work from
foot hills to the remote and rugged high altitude areas of
Himachal Pradesh under extreme cold or rainy conditions with
minimal logistic/connectivity support.
Description of
Work
The project aims to generate baseline data on insects and pollinators
in selected PAs of Himachal Pradesh for long term ecological
monitoring of biodiversity.
Responsibilities The Project Fellow will be involved with a team in regular field data
collection, identification of insects, database generation for geo-spatial
modelling and report writing. Assist Project Associate and PIs for
implementing project mandate. Candidates willing to work
fulltime under remote harsh high altitude field (>3500m)
conditions with strenuous physical conditions only may
apply. Candidates should be medically fit for walking long
hours in cold arid mountains and staying in basic field
conditions.

(Wildlife) /Environmental Management/Science with

2. Research experience on mammalian ecological surveys,
RS & GIS, related studies in western Himalaya. Proven
analytical skills in basic ecological softwares.

General Terms & Conditions
1. The selection of the candidates will be in accordance with the performance in the interview and in
order of merit as decided by the Interview Committee. All original documents should be produced
at the time of interview. The decision of the Institute’s Committee in all matters relating to eligibility,
work experience, acceptance or rejection of application will be final and binding on the candidates
and no enquiry or correspondence will be entertained from any individual.
2. The candidates are required to submit their completed application forms in PDF format, with
accompanying attachments by email (with subject line: “Application for the post of Project
Biologist (Vegetation/Insect/Mammalian Ecology) in the Project “Basic Study Design of
Biodiversity Assessment for Himachal Pradesh" to registrarpr@wii.gov.in not later than
1700 hrs on 30th June 2022. A hard copy of the application along with attachments (with subject
line: “Application for the post of Project Biologist (Vegetation/Insect/Mammalian Ecology)
in Basic Study Design of Biodiversity Assessment for Himachal Pradesh” should be sent to
The Registrar, Wildlife Institute of India, Chandrabani, Dehradun 248001, Uttarakhand by
post and reach not later than 1700 hrs on 30th June 2022.
3. Application forms needs to be typed according to the prescribed format and must be accompanied
by self-attested: (a) Scanned copies of educational qualifications, and (b) Scanned copies of
experience letter/ certificate, failing which applications will not be considered.
4. If a candidate is applying for more than one post, separate applications have to be submitted for
every post applied for.
5. The applications received will be rejected by the Institute, if (i) receive after the deadline, (ii) not
in prescribed application format or (iii) received without said subject line in e-mail.
6. Mere fulfilment of the minimum advertised qualifications and experience requirement DOES NOT
automatically entitle an applicant to be called for interview.
7. The shortlisting of candidates will be based on a combination of Essential and Desirable
Qualifications mentioned in the advertisement. The shortlisted candidates will be notified (through
email and website notification) for online/personal interview.
8. At the time of verification of original documents, if it is found that an attempt has been made by
the applicant to wilfully conceal, misrepresent or canvass the facts, his/her candidature will not be
considered.
9. The positions advertised are purely temporary/ contractual for the project period only and will stand
abolished after completion of the project.
10. The tenure in the project will be governed by the Institute’s rules and regulations

12. After announcement of the results, the candidate should join the project immediately.
13. The headquarters for the above posts would be the various field sites in remote areas or at the
Wildlife Institute of India (WII), Dehradun. The selected candidate would be liable to serve at any
field location or task decided by the Institute as per functional needs.
14. The initial offer of appointment will be for 5 Months which would be extended depending upon
annual performance assessment, functional needs of the project, and availability of project funds
and upto project tenure.
15. Parallel engagements in other projects/studies are not allowed. The engagement in this study if
selected is fulltime.
16. The Director, WII reserves the right to reject any candidature in view of incomplete information
provided by the candidate or for any other reason thereof.
