BITS Goa Campus Metabolic Disorders/MOlecular Biology RA/JRF Openings

1 JRF and 1 RA positions under a DBT funded project 

Applications are invited for the position of one JRF and one RA in the Department of Biological Sciences at BITS Pilani, K. K. Birla Goa Campus, Goa for a DBT sponsored research project titled “A study on molecular mechanisms of alternative splicing and its regulator SMAR1 in TNF-α induced metabolic syndrome in mammalian skeletal muscle and hypothalamic neuronal cells” [BT/PR40104/BRB/10/1898/2020]. 

Principal Investigator: Dr. Indrani Talukdar 
Co-Principal Investigator: Dr. Arnab Banerjee, Prof. Samit Chattopadhyay 

Broad area of Research: Metabolic disorder, alternative splicing, gene regulation 

Duration of the project: Three years 

Fellowship Amount (Rs.): JRF: 31000.00 + HRA as applicable RA: 47000.00 + HRA as applicable 

Accommodation: Hostel accommodation for the JRF will be provided subject to availability and will be governed by the rules and regulations of the Institute prevailing at the time of joining of the candidate. 


Qualification: 

FOR JRF: Post Graduate Degree in Biochemistry/Genetics/Molecular Biology/ Zoology/ and *selected in any one of the following: - 

1. National Eligibility Tests- CSIR –UGC NET including lectureship (Assistant Professorship) and GATE. 
2. National level examinations conducted by central Government departments and their agencies and Institutions such as DST, DBT, DAE, DOS, DRDO, MHRD, ICAR, IIT, IISc, IISER etc. 

*Non-NET/GATE candidates may also apply and may be considered for suitable position. 

FOR RA: PhD in one of the fields in Biology: Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Genetics, Zoology. In depth understanding of molecular biology, gene regulation, signal transduction is a must. 

Candidate must be familiar with rodent handling and basic in vivo experiments. 

*Relaxation for SC/ ST/ OBC candidates, as per the DBT guidelines.
