The Institute for Stem Cell Science and Regenerative Medicine (DBT-inStem, www.instem.res.in), an Autonomous Research Institute of the Department of Biotechnology, Government of India invites online applications for its PhD program.
DBT-inStem is a state-of-the-art research institute in Bangalore, India, dedicated to the study of stem cells and regenerative biology with translational emphasis. An autonomous institute funded by the Dept. of Biotechnology (DBT), Govt. of India, inStem is built on a core of collaborative research and a thematic focus. inStem’s mandate fosters a cross-disciplinary, multi-pronged approach to research, and straddles the divide between basic, clinical and laboratory research. National Centre for Biological Sciences (NCBS) is a Centre of the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, funded by the Department of Atomic Energy (DAE), Govt. of India. It conducts fundamental biological research across scales. Please see http://ncbs.res.in. The PhD program at inStem will be offered concurrently with NCBS-TIFR.
NCBS and inStem form part of the vibrant Bangalore Life Sciences Cluster (BLiSC) with Tata Institute of Genetics and Society (TIGS) and Centre for Cellular and Molecular Platforms (C-CAMP), sharing infrastructure, research facilities and academic programme.
Eligibility criteria:
The minimum qualification for admission to the Doctor of Philosophy programme is a Master’s degree from a recognised institution in any area of science and technology, or a Bachelor of Medicine or an equivalent degree from a recognised University or institution.
Qualified for a Junior Research Fellowship from DBT/ CSIR/ UGC/ ICMR/ INSPIRE or any other equivalent national level examination with the fellowship, and activation date to be active beyond October 2023. JGEEBILS qualified candidates are automatically intimated.
Applying Procedure:
Eligible candidates seeking admission to the Ph.D. program should write to the academic office (acad@instem.res.in) to access the online application. The application should be filled out online and submitted on or before 31st March 2023. Candidates selected after a pre-screening of applications would be called for an interview. The interview date and time will be communicated to the candidates by the academic office.
